As a lecturer, Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Kien always demonstrates the qualities, skills, experience, and exemplary teaching style of a teacher, especially when teaching topics on Psychology to students who are lecturers of military social sciences and humanities, political commissars of platoon (brigade); senior political theorists; and postgraduate students. In addition to fully imparting the basic knowledge in each topic, Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Kien also knows how to inspire and encourage attitudes and love for the profession for each generation of students.

Awarded the title of excellent lecturer at the Academy level in 2025, Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Kien has made a deep impression on his colleagues and many generations of students thanks to his democratic and open working style; always being close, listening, sharing expertise, skills, experiences, life experiences and accompanying students in studying and scientific research; exemplary pedagogical style along with specialized lectures applying information technology and digital technology, helping students to listen, understand, remember and apply easily in practical work.

As the head of the department, Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Kien not only has good qualities and pedagogical capacity, but is also a good pedagogical professional manager, an academic orientator, a career inspiration and a spirit of learning and scientific research to the teaching staff in the Department and the entire Faculty. Always setting high professional requirements, constantly worrying about teaching quality, proactively updating specialized knowledge, improving active teaching methods "taking learners as the center"; together with the Faculty staff, building 20 output standard programs close to each student group and the current requirements of military development. Being a bridge between the teaching staff and the Faculty staff, exemplary in words and work; actively and proactively building solidarity and unity within the Department and the entire Faculty.

Thanks to that, the Department of Pedagogical Psychology always completes its assigned tasks well. The Department has 4/4 staff and lecturers, equal to 100% of the staff meeting the criteria of 3 good political qualities (in terms of courage, motivation, attitude) good politics; 100% of lecturers meet the ethical standards of "3 exemplary" (with themselves, colleagues and students), actively studying and following the ideology, morality and style of Ho Chi Minh .

In order to achieve the goal of "3 Goods" (good teaching, good learning, and good scientific research), Lieutenant Colonel, Dr. Nguyen Van Kien has participated in writing 2 textbooks for teaching (Methods of teaching military psychology, Psychology of military personality); Head of 1 Academy-level project, with excellent acceptance results (10-2024); participated in 2 Academy-level projects; and actively wrote many articles refuting erroneous and hostile viewpoints, protecting the Party's ideological foundation.

Commenting on his subordinate, Colonel, Dr. Bui Tuan Anh, Deputy Head of the Department of Military Psychology, said: Comrade Nguyen Van Kien, although originally trained in a civilian pedagogical environment, when assigned to work at the Department, quickly adapted to the military pedagogical environment, proactively learned and improved, and every year always proactively took on the task of teaching and scientific research well. As the head of the department, he always fulfilled the role of a commander and manager, actively trained and helped young lecturers in specialized knowledge, pedagogical methods and styles; built the will and spirit of solidarity with the collective to comprehensively and excellently complete the assigned tasks.
