Two pilot crews grounded after plane crash at Noi Bai

Vietnam Airlines has temporarily suspended two crews of four pilots to serve the verification process of the cause of the airline's plane crash at Noi Bai.

On June 28, Vietnam Airlines leaders said that the suspension of four pilots on the Boeing 787 and Airbus 321 aircraft will begin from the afternoon of June 27 until the airline has a conclusion about the incident.

Vietnam Airlines has set up an independent investigation team to find out and evaluate the cause of the incident, in parallel with the investigation team to determine the cause of the incident by the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam. The airline is also coordinating with aviation authorities to clarify the incident.

Informing about the collision with VTC News, Mr. Tran Doan Mau, Director of the Northern Port Authority, said that at around 2:45 p.m. on June 27, at the intersection of S and S3, Boeing 787 aircraft with registration number VN-A863 (operating flight VN7205 from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City) was taxiing onto the runway to prepare for takeoff when its wing hit the tail of Airbus 321 aircraft with registration number VN-A338, which was waiting at taxiway S3 to perform flight VN1804 from Hanoi to Dien Bien.

As a result, the Boeing suffered damage to the right wing tip, and the Airbus suffered a torn vertical wing.

According to the Northern Airport Authority, initial records show that the Airbus preparing to depart for Dien Bien did not park at the correct waiting stop on taxiway S3.

Immediately after the incident, functional units at Noi Bai airport urgently handled the situation according to procedures, ensuring the safety of passengers and flight crew. All passengers on the two flights were assisted and arranged to transfer to alternative flights to continue their journey.
