This year's National Day, September 2nd, is even more special as it coincides with the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country. Hanoi - the political and cultural center of the country, has become the focal point for attracting tourists. Hotels and accommodation facilities around Ba Dinh, the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem Lake, etc. have all recorded an increase in searches and bookings.

Excited to go to Hanoi on September 2nd holiday

New data released by Agoda shows the special attraction of Hanoi during the 2.9 holiday this year. In the period from 15.5 to 15.8, the number of searches for accommodation for the National Day holiday (30.8 - 3.9) by Vietnamese tourists skyrocketed by 370%, while international tourists also increased by 84% compared to the same period last year.

In addition to parades and commemorative art programs, the capital also organizes many cultural events, exhibitions, outdoor film screenings, and the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake is busier than usual. This is also an opportunity for visitors to experience "a Hanoi in a festive atmosphere" that is both solemn and vibrant.

Besides political activities, many families take the opportunity to explore the capital in their own way: visiting the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, Thang Long Imperial Citadel or walking around the old town to enjoy the cuisine . The autumn air is starting, the weather in Hanoi is more pleasant, it is also the ideal time for tourists to experience coffee by the lake or watch the streets full of flags and flowers.

In the capital, parades, festivals, exhibitions, outdoor film screenings and Hoan Kiem Lake walking space promise to attract a large number of tourists. This is also an opportunity to explore Hanoi in a very unique way: visit Thang Long Imperial Citadel, Temple of Literature, stroll around the old town, enjoy pho, bun cha or sit at a coffee shop by the lake in the mild autumn atmosphere.

Short-term tours, self-driving cars are on the rise

If Hanoi is the focal point of the north, then in Ho Chi Minh City and other big cities, the trend of choosing short-term tours, traveling to neighboring provinces by personal car is flourishing. The increasingly convenient traffic infrastructure, the highway connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Phan Thiet or Hanoi - Lao Cai, Hanoi - Hai Phong ... has made "self-drive experience" tourism a familiar choice.

From Ho Chi Minh City, many families choose Vung Tau, Phan Thiet, Da Lat for a 2-3 day trip. These destinations have the advantage of being moderately long, with diverse accommodation infrastructure and many activities suitable for groups of friends or families. Crowded beaches, homestays by the forest, or villas with private swimming pools... are always popular choices for short vacations.

Ms. Cao Phuong Thao (living in Vinh Hoi Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) shared: "This holiday, my husband and I and our neighbors in the apartment building plan to drive to Bao Loc. The whole group will rent a villa, let the children play, the adults rest, and participate in community activities. After days in the noisy city, being close to nature and friends like this will be much more meaningful."

In the North, from Hanoi, self-guided tours to Ninh Binh, Ha Long, Mai Chau, and Sa Pa are also chosen by many tourists. With just 2-3 hours of travel, the capital's residents can "escape" from the city to enjoy the mountains, forests, caves, or bays.

Major destinations such as Da Nang - Hue - Hoi An, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang also recorded an increase in tour bookings, thanks to the combination of beach resorts and cultural exploration.

Overseas tour on September 2nd

Travel agencies said that the number of customers booking outbound tours this year is concentrated in young groups or families who have prepared their schedules since the beginning of summer. Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia are the three destinations that have the most Vietnamese customers, thanks to fast travel and reasonable tour prices.

Travel experts say that the National Day holiday is increasingly becoming a time for tourists to seek more than just rest. Whether choosing the capital to live in the breath of history or driving a few hours out of town to enjoy the sea and forests, the travel trend during September 2 reflects the need for balance: rest, community connection and unique cultural experiences.
