With only one week left until the 80th National Day Celebration on September 2nd, Hanoi has attracted a large number of out-of-town tourists to watch the parade. Many hotels in the central area have therefore quickly run out of rooms and increased prices.
Currently, room rates at hotels in Hanoi's Old Quarter from August 29 to September 2 have increased sharply: 2-3 star hotel room rates range from 1.5 to 2.5 million VND/night; 4-star hotel rooms range from 3 to 4.5 million VND/night, 5-star hotel rooms range from 3.5 to 7 million VND. This is said to be an increase of about 30%.
Despite the high hotel room rates, at this point, almost all hotels are fully booked and closed. Where there are still rooms, there are very few and prices are expected to increase in the coming days.

At the 5-star Lotte Hotel Hanoi (Lieu Giai), the price of a Deluxe room is from 3.5 million VND/room/day and night, a Junior Suite room with 2 single beds is 4 million VND/room/day and night, and a Junior Suite room is from 3.87 - 7 million VND/room/day and night.
“With a view of the city, the hotel is very convenient for visitors to visit the Ba Dinh area and enjoy the A80 parade. At this time, the number of rooms left is very limited,” said a hotel receptionist.
Similarly, at Gilson Hanoi Hotel (96 Tay Son Street), a Deluxe room with 2 single beds from August 30 to September 2 costs 1.8 million VND/room/day and night; a Superior room with 2 single beds costs 1.3 million VND/room/day and night; and a Suite room costs 2.8 million VND/room/day and night. The room rates at this hotel have increased by 20% compared to normal days. However, at this time, the hotel is fully booked.
“ We have no vacancies from Sunday 31 August to Monday 1 September,” the hotel said.

Not only hotels in Ba Dinh area but also most hotels on parade streets are quickly "sold out".
Hanoi Department of Tourism said that small 1-3 star hotels in the center of Hoan Kiem and around the parade area were fully booked for the holiday. Many 4-5 star hotels and apartment buildings in the area also reached 100% occupancy on the night of September 1, such as Hanoi Daewoo, Pullman Hanoi, Army Hotel, Melia Hanoi, The Five Residences apartment building, Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake, etc.
Other hotels such as Pan Pacific, Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi, Movenpick Centre, Duparc, Dolce Hanoi Golden Lake… have occupancy rates exceeding 70-80% on September 2nd and continue to increase rapidly. Even on the days of preliminary and final rehearsals, the hotels are achieving very high occupancy rates.
The above hotels are conveniently located, visitors only need to walk a short distance to the parade routes. Some places even allow visitors to sit and watch the parade from the hotel's balcony or cafe.
According to a survey on online booking applications, there are currently very few vacant rooms in Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh. Small-scale motels and homestays are also fully booked.
According to the latest data from travel platform Booking.com, Hanoi is the most searched destination by Vietnamese people during the National Day holiday (from August 29 to September 3), rising from 7th place to 1st place compared to the same period last year.
Hanoi's increased appeal was seen across all tourist groups, with the capital leading searches by families (up from 14th), groups of friends (up from 9th), couples (up from 7th) and solo travellers (up from 2nd).
For motels and budget hotels in the areas of Nguyen Xien, Chien Thang, Hoang Hoa Tham streets... the price ranges from 390,000 VND/small room and 440,000 VND/large room. If guests rent for the whole week, the price will be from 2.6 million VND. However, there are currently very few rooms left due to the rapid increase in the number of guests. "To ensure a reservation, guests need to transfer 100% in advance to avoid the situation where, close to the cancellation time, people with real needs do not have a room to rent," said the owner of a hotel on Chien Thang street.
Besides searching for accommodation, the demand for renting personal vehicles such as motorbikes and electric motorbikes also increases during this time.
Currently, the rental price for manual motorbikes is 190,000 VND/day, for scooters 210,000 VND/day, and for electric motorbikes 230,000 VND/day. The prices apply during holidays. The owner of an electric motorbike rental facility confirmed that customers need to confirm the rental date early because it will be difficult to find a rental place close to the holidays and the price will also increase.
