Tran Thanh Trang, born in 1996. In 2016, after graduating from the School university Military Culture and Arts, Tran Thanh Trang went to China to study at Guangxi Academy of Arts.
On the occasion of Dragon Boat Festival In 2025, she was invited to participate in a special art program produced by China Central Television (CMG), broadcast during prime time on major channels such as CCTV-1, CCTV-3, CCTV-15. Tran Thanh Trang said that this was the program with the largest coverage she had ever participated in and was also an unforgettable mark in her performance journey.
“I feel extremely honored and happy to be trusted and chosen by CMG to represent Vietnam to perform in the special program celebrating the 2025 Dragon Boat Festival. This is a large stage, of international scale, gathering many top Chinese stars and artists from other countries such as Cambodian princess Norodom Jenna..., with carefully invested, meticulous and artistically valuable performances” – Tran Thanh Trang shared.
The special art program on the occasion of the Duanwu Festival includes art performances such as poetry, drama, creative dance, traditional musical instruments and martial arts... thereby honoring the traditional cultural values of the Duanwu Festival.
At the program, singer Tran Thanh Trang (Vietnam) and singers Vuong Tranh Luong (China), Victor Wong (Malaysia), Princess Norodom Jenna (Cambodia) performed the song "Tam Nguyet Dong Huy".
The program includes 4 songs representing the cultural characteristics of 4 countries: "Spring Warmth, Flowers Bloom" (China), folk songs Vietnam's "Qua Cau Gio Bay", Malaysian folk song "Rasa Sayang" and Cambodian folk song "Anh Moon".
When performing “Qua cau gio bay” on the CMG stage, she always reminded herself that she had to perform meticulously and delicately – not only in her voice but also in her performance, demeanor and emotions conveyed. In her performance, singer Tran Thanh Trang stood out in the traditional Vietnamese ao dai, with royal patterns and lotus motifs. The image evokes the elegant and graceful beauty of Vietnamese women.
Tran Thanh Trang hopes that Chinese audiences will feel the gentle, profound beauty of Vietnamese folk melodies, and at the same time see the closeness and harmony when traditional Vietnamese music is gently combined with the modern pop music style of your country.
“My greatest wish is to spread the image of a beautiful, sophisticated and loving Vietnam to international friends. Through my performance, as well as interviews within the program and on Chinese media, I want to use Vietnamese music and my own voice to tell the world about my country – a Vietnam that is close, rich in identity but also full of integration and friendliness. With all my respect and love for national music, I hope my performance will be a small bridge, contributing to spreading Vietnamese cultural values closer to international audiences,” she said.
After only 2 days of broadcasting, the program has reached more than 800 million views – an increase of 25% compared to the same period last year. This shows the program's great influence and reach on Chinese audiences as well as the international community.
For Tran Thanh Trang, this is a precious opportunity and a memorable milestone in her career. “Many people in the profession have shared with me that there are Chinese artists who have worked hard all their lives but have not had the opportunity to stand on the CMG stage – so I appreciate and am even more grateful for this special opportunity,” said Tran Thanh Trang.
Not only limited to Vietnam-China exchange, for Tran Thanh Trang, this program also opens up opportunities to meet and connect with friends from many ASEAN countries. It is also an opportunity for Tran Thanh Trang to always try to spread Vietnamese music and culture closer to the public in the region.
For the artist, art and love are the greatest sources of energy to connect people. The valuable experiences in China not only helped her mature in art, but also touched her heart - where two cultures meet, understand and accompany each other.
