Japanese artist holds lacquer painting exhibition in Hanoi

The exhibition of lacquer paintings “Moon” by artist Ando Saeko will open on the afternoon of September 8 at the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1973-2023).

Born in 1968 in Japan, artist Ando Saeko holds a BA in Philosophy from Waseda University. In addition to being an artist, she is also known as a researcher in the field of natural lacquer and actively shares her discoveries through lectures, conferences, and seminars in many places around the world .

Ando Saeko is the artist who created the main image for the opera Princess Anio ( which will be performed at the Hanoi Opera House on September 22-24 and in Tokyo on November 4) in a cultural exchange event marking the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

Artist Ando Saeko currently lives and works in Hoi An, where the natural energy emanating from rice fields, rivers and oceans inspires her creativity.
