Today is Saturday, which in the unit is an opportunity for soldiers to rest, participate in sports , cultural and artistic activities after a week of training and work. However, since the flood occurred, those days off have become "special working days". On the roads, garden corners, house basements... groups of soldiers from Regiment 764, Nghe An Provincial Military Command and Division 342 are still wading in mud to help people overcome the consequences of natural disasters.

It was Saturday but the soldiers of Regiment 764 were still in the area helping the people.

The soldiers have been here since the first days after the flood. They eat with the people, work with the people. And on weekends, when they can rest, they still stay in the area, helping people in the flooded areas during difficult times. Sergeant Quang Van Huy, Squad Leader, Squad 3, Platoon 1, Company 1, Battalion 41, Regiment 764, Nghe An Provincial Military Command, is helping his teammates shovel mud to help people in Block 4 of Muong Xen Commune, sharing: “After the flood, many places are still covered in mud. I am still healthy, seeing the people working so hard, how can I rest!”

Soldiers of Division 324, Military Region 4 still work hard to help people on their day off.

After the flood, the entire Muong Xen commune was like a huge construction site. All activities were disrupted. Mud covered the roads, garbage was piled up everywhere, houses, markets, schools... were all in urgent need of repair. While the people were still confused and tired, the army arrived early and immediately started working to help the people.

Persistently help people overcome the consequences of floods.

Not minding the hardship, the young soldiers, shovels in hand and hoes in hand, worked tirelessly. The weather here is unpredictable, some days it was sunny and sunny, then suddenly it rained heavily, but the soldiers still persevered and continued their work of clearing mud, unclogging sewers, and repairing houses to help the people.

People donated water and "supported" the soldiers in the process of helping people.

Mrs. Ha Thi Cuc, Block 1, Muong Xen Commune, emotionally said: “They have been helping people all week. Today is the weekend, I thought they were off, but I still see them working in the sun to clean up trash and mud. My family was flooded with mud more than a meter deep; I was busy taking my child to the hospital, and after the flood, all our belongings were washed away. Now, all that remains is the damaged house frame and the altar! Over the past few days, the soldiers have helped my family little by little, without hesitation. I feel so sorry for the soldiers working so hard and tirelessly.”

Soldiers of Regiment 764 (Nghe An Provincial Military Command) stay in the area to help people during the holiday.

Present at the scene to directly direct the work of helping the people, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Toan Thang, Political Commissar of Regiment 764, Nghe An Provincial Military Command, could not hide his emotion when seeing the working spirit of the officers and soldiers. “The presence of soldiers to support people in times of difficulty and adversity is not just a simple responsibility or sentiment. It is also a precious tradition, the nature of the Vietnam People's Army. We always educate soldiers that: Be ready to sacrifice personal interests, including their own rest time, to contribute to bringing peace and stability to the people. When people need, the soldiers must be present - regardless of weekdays or holidays", Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Toan Thang shared.

Medical forces of the Nghe An Provincial Military Command overcame difficult terrain to provide free medicine to 39 households in Nhan Cu village, Muong Xen commune, Nghe An province.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Toan Thang also emphasized that it is the proactiveness, voluntary spirit and devotion to the people that make up the image of Uncle Ho's soldiers in the hearts of the people: "There is no order like an order from the heart. Every officer and soldier is ready to put aside personal work to help the people overcome the consequences of the flood. That makes us very emotional and proud."

The Military Medical Department of Nghe An Provincial Military Command coordinated with local health care to examine and provide free medicine to people in Muong Xen commune.

Through simple but practical actions, the soldiers have left a deep impression on the hearts of the people in the flooded areas. For them, accompanying the people in difficult times, even on holidays, is also a part of their responsibility and pride.

Military medical staff of Nghe An Provincial Military Command sprayed disinfectant at Nhan Cu village, Muong Xen commune.

In the mountainous areas where there are still many difficulties, the affection between the army and the people is even stronger. When the people need, the soldiers go on the road, ready to put aside their personal days to share with the community. And it is those days off that create a simple, silent, yet noble image of the army.
