The Ministry of Education and Training announced on August 2 that all four members of the Vietnamese team competing in the 2025 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) in the capital city of Sucre, Bolivia, won medals. Specifically, Le Kien Thanh, a 12th grade student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Gia Lai province, won a gold medal.

Two students, Dang Huy Hau, grade 10 student, Thang Long High School for the Gifted, Lam Dong province and Nguyen Bui Duc Dung, grade 11 student, High School for the Gifted in Natural Sciences , University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, both won silver medals.
The bronze medal was awarded to Ninh Quang Thang, a 12th grade student at Ha Long High School for the Gifted, Quang Ninh province.
With 100% of contestants winning medals, the Vietnam National IOI Team is among the top 8 countries and territories with the highest results in the medal tally, after China, South Korea, Romania, Singapore, Bulgaria, Hungary and Japan.
The excellent achievements of the Vietnamese team at IOI 2025 continue to affirm the position of Vietnamese education in the top intellectual arena, while affirming the right direction in the work of discovering, selecting and nurturing excellent students of the Ministry of Education and Training.
IOI 2025 was held live from July 27 to August 3 in the capital Sucre, Bolivia, with the official participation of 330 contestants from 86 countries and territories; Russia and Belarus participated under the Olympic flag.
According to the regulations of the IOI Council 2025, the exam has two official exam days. On each day, candidates will take a 5-hour computer programming test, solving 3 problems with rich content. The results will be automatically graded online by the system and the scoreboard will be announced directly throughout the two exam days (online).
The IOI 2025 exam is assessed to be highly difficult, diverse in genres with 6 tests of 6 completely different types, requiring candidates to have comprehensive background knowledge, creativity and flexible thinking.
