In the first exam session, Ministerof Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son directly inspected the exam organization at a number of exam sites in Vinh Phuc province, including Hai Ba Trung High School and Tran Phu High School (Phuc Yen city). At the Hai Ba Trung High School exam site, the Minister talked to and encouraged candidates and staff and teachers to do their duties, and at the same time acknowledged the seriousness and responsibility in the organization.
Regarding the marking of exams, the Ministry of Education and Training noted that the examination board and the marking board will be different, so it is necessary to strictly follow the procedures and professional instructions. In the context of a large number of subjects and exams and differences in requirements, the organization of marking exams must be closely monitored and follow the procedures. In particular, it is necessary to strictly implement the direction of the Prime Minister, absolutely not allowing the arrangement of the government apparatus to affect the exam.
According to the reporter's notes, this year's Literature exam according to the 2018 general education program was designed in an open way, using materials outside of textbooks, to encourage students to apply independent thinking, promote creativity and connect with reality in the process of doing the test.
Ms. Hoang Thi Hong Minh, a Literature teacher at Thuan Thanh 1 High School (Bac Ninh) commented that in terms of structure, the exam questions closely followed the reference questions announced by the Ministry of Education and Training. The Reading Comprehension section used material extracted from the text "Different Skies" by writer Nguyen Minh Chau. This is a good text, rich in meaning and deeply educational for the younger generation. The social essay with the theme "Every homeland's sky is the Fatherland's sky" is a practical issue, closely linking literary materials with real life, promptly reflecting current issues, especially in the context of merging administrative units today. In general, the exam questions closely followed the requirements of the 2018 general education program. The level of questions was suitable for students' abilities, both practical and topical, contributing to promoting learners' thinking, emotional and ability to apply knowledge.
Candidate Phung Ngoc Bich, taking the exam at Linh Nam Secondary School (Hoang Mai District, Hanoi) shared that she found the Literature exam to be suitable for her ability, with clear classification, creating opportunities for students to demonstrate their abilities, especially their thinking and practical connections. She was especially impressed with the social commentary section because it was topical when it was linked to the issue of merging provinces and cities, thereby arousing love for the country in each student.
According to the report of the Ministry of Education and Training, more than 1.14 million candidates took the Literature exam, reaching a rate of 99.37%; the rate of candidates taking the Math exam was 99.36%. At the end of the first day of the exam, 10 candidates were suspended from the Literature exam, and 5 candidates were suspended from the Math exam due to using mobile phones and documents.
After finishing the Math exam, teacher Pham Anh Tuan, Luong The Vinh Secondary and High School (Hanoi) commented that this year's exam closely followed the 2018 General Education Program. Specifically, in the true-false multiple-choice test, there were two questions and in the short-answer multiple-choice test, there were three questions related to life. The level of the multiple-choice questions had many answer options in form 1 and the true-false questions were mostly in form 1 and 2, so candidates would be able to do it completely. However, the short-answer questions were relatively difficult to differentiate learners. Notably, this year's exam had a new structure, and the content of the questions was also completely different from that of 2024. Candidates no longer encountered questions that were heavily computational, but instead, they had to develop their thinking ability, especially with interdisciplinary integrated questions.
Today (June 27) is the last day of the 2025 high school graduation exam. Candidates taking the exam under the 2018 General Education Program will take the optional exam; candidates taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program will take the Natural Science and Social Science exams.
