At many companies under the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV), practical solutions have been implemented such as providing cash support, providing heat-resistant items, adjusting working hours, and improving nutrition... These actions not only help improve working conditions but are also an important source of spiritual encouragement, contributing to retaining workers and improving productivity.
As the main underground coal mining unit of TKV, Nam Mau Coal Company currently has more than 4,000 staff and workers. In the context of prolonged hot weather, the Company has promptly implemented specific measures to take care of the health of workers. In particular, since the beginning of June 2025, the Company has allocated a welfare fund to support each worker with 1 million VND to equip themselves with cooling food.
Mr. Do Quang Trung, Chairman of the Nam Mau Coal Company's Trade Union, said: "Not only stopping at providing heat-resistant equipment, the Trade Union also coordinates with experts to provide sugar and lemon for units to mix soft drinks on-site, helping workers replenish water and electrolytes throughout the work shift."
At Duong Huy Coal Company, heat-proofing measures are also being implemented synchronously. Mr. Nguyen Tien Du, a worker here, shared: " In the summer, the temperature in the furnace can reach nearly 40 degrees Celsius, making it easy to get tired and have low blood pressure. This year, the company has prepared vitamins, ORS salt water, adjusted shifts, and increased green vegetables and cool water in meals, so workers feel more secure."
Productivity at some units also recorded a slight increase as workers felt more secure in their jobs under significantly improved working conditions.
Not only Nam Mau or Duong Huy, units such as Than Nui Beo, Mao Khe, Mong Duong, Ha Lam… also actively improved working conditions. Many places have supplemented vitamin C, electrolyte drinks, green tea, yogurt, and invested in improving ventilation and cooling systems in the mines.
In addition, wall fans, industrial fans, thermos bottles, ice boxes, and sunshades are also added to outdoor work areas. In particular, air conditioning systems on mechanical equipment such as excavators and bulldozers are regularly checked and maintained to ensure the health of operators.
The grassroots medical force has been strengthened and is always on standby to promptly provide first aid in emergency situations. Some units have also invested in automatic misting and cooling systems at work locations with high temperatures.
Thanks to the synchronous implementation of health care solutions, the working spirit of workers is maintained stably. In many units, there are no cases of work accidents due to heatstroke or exhaustion. In fact, productivity in some units has even increased slightly because workers are more confident in their work in significantly improved working conditions.
