Customs sector names prominent counterfeit smuggling cases in the Central region

(Dan Tri) - The customs sector has recently taken action to crack down on a series of smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods cases throughout the Central region.

The customs sector is implementing a peak month of fighting against smuggling and illegal cross-border transportation of counterfeit, fake, poor-quality, and unknown-origin goods that affect consumers' and public health, according to the Prime Minister 's urgent dispatch No. 65 dated May 15 and Directive No. 13 dated May 17.

In just one month, from May 19 to June 15, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department - Customs Department has drastically implemented measures to strengthen the fight against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods throughout the Central region.

The Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department has implemented synchronous customs control measures; strengthened data analysis on key goods to screen key enterprises for strict control.

At the same time, this unit coordinates with a number of Customs Sub-Departments in the Central region and functional agencies such as the Police, Border Guard, Coast Guard, and Market Management to grasp, exchange information, verify the origin of goods, promptly detect, prevent, and handle violations.

As a result, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department (with the core being the Anti-Smuggling Control Team No. 2 - Team 2) discovered, arrested, and handled 9 cases, including 2 cases of presiding over arrests; 7 cases of initial information transfer and coordination.

Typically, on May 26, at coordinates 11052'20''N, 109012'03''E in the sea area of ​​Khanh Hoa province, Team 2 - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department presided over, coordinated with Border Guard Squadron 48 and Customs Control Team - Regional Customs Department XIII to inspect wooden ship numbered KH-0757 operated by Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung (born in 1986) with suspicious signs.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the wooden ship KH-0757 was transporting about 20,000 liters of liquid suspected to be DO oil without invoices or documents proving its legality. The value of the illegal shipment is estimated at about 348 million VND.

Or on May 28, at coordinates 11017'N, 109002'E in the sea area of ​​Ninh Thuan province, Team 2 - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department presided over, coordinated with the Crime Prevention Department - Coast Guard Region 3 Command to inspect the ship with license plate TH-91658-TS operated by Mr. Huynh Thanh Phong (born in 1978) with suspicious signs.

Upon inspection, it was discovered that the ship with license plate TH-91658-TS was transporting about 75,000 liters of liquid suspected to be DO oil without invoices or documents proving its legality. The value of the illegal shipment is estimated at about 1.3 billion VND.

On June 10, Team 2 - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department coordinated with Da Nang Industrial Park Customs to inspect 2 postal items at the Central Transportation and Warehousing Center - Postal Transportation and Warehousing Company.

The results of the investigation found a parcel with serial number LZ220990622CN (sent from China to Vietnam) containing a cardboard globe with information about Vietnam's sea areas as the South China Sea; a parcel with serial number CM242668003US (sent from the US to Vietnam) containing 2 books with many obscene images.

From May 19 to June 15, Team 2 - Anti-smuggling Investigation Department proactively collected information, grasped the local situation, organized forces; coordinated with the Information Collection and Processing Department and Online Monitoring and Cha Lo International Border Gate Customs - Region IX Customs Branch to continuously inspect and seize 6 transit shipments from China to Laos through Cha Lo International Border Gate; Violating goods included 19,309 products of various types, worth 4,188 billion VND.

Products include mobile phones, clothes, computer screens, glasses, tablet screens, phone cases, truck lights, LCD screens, computer speakers, electrocardiogram machines, headphones, phone charging cables, multi-function fans, portable mini speakers, decorative ceiling lights, men's belts, JBL speaker watches, PRADA handbags (Milano)...

Of these, 2 lots contained 130 Prada (Milano) handbags and 120 JBL speakers with signs of counterfeit trademarks (with Prada and JBL trademarks attached). In addition, 3,369 products, worth about 2.8 billion VND, were non-customs declared consumer goods, hidden among the containers.

Customs is still examining the next shipments.
