(CLO) Ukraine officials said on Wednesday that Russia launched its first missile attack on Kiev since August, sending sirens blaring across the Ukrainian capital.

Ukraine's air defense forces said they intercepted two cruise missiles, two ballistic missiles and 37 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) across the country. No casualties or major damage were reported in Kiev.

Debris fell outside the Ukrainian capital, injuring a 48-year-old man and causing a fire at a warehouse, the head of the Kiev regional government said.

The capital Kiev has faced Russian drone attacks almost every night for weeks. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said a drone was still flying over central Kiev in the morning.

"There was an explosion in the city. Air defense is working. Stay in the shelter!", the Kiev city government wrote on Telegram.

Despite frequent UAV attacks, Russia has not attacked Kiev with missiles since August 26, when it launched a major offensive across Ukraine using more than 200 drones and missiles.

In another development in the conflict between the two countries, Russian troops have taken control of the community of Rovnopol in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday. This is just one of many recent Russian advances in the Donbas region.

Fighting is also ongoing on several other fronts. In Russia’s Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on Wednesday that a Russian Su-34 frontline bomber had bombed Ukrainian troops occupying the border area.

In addition to still controlling the aforementioned Russian territory, Ukraine is also putting pressure on Moscow with artillery and air strikes on other border areas.

The Governor of the Belgorod Region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, reported on his Telegram channel that the Ukrainian armed forces attacked seven districts of this Russian border region with 69 artillery shells and 33 UAVs over the past day.

"In the Shebekinsky district, 35 shells in five shellings and 9 UAVs, of which 6 were intercepted, were launched at the city of Shebekino, as well as the settlements of Krasnoye, Belyanka, Ziborovka, Krapivnoye, Nizhneye Beryozovo-Vtoroye, Rzhevka and Sereda," he wrote.
