Farming is a profession chosen by many students before reintegrating into the community.
Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, Trung Chinh Commune (formerly Hoang Giang Commune, Nong Cong District) currently has 575 students undergoing drug rehabilitation, of which 74 students are undergoing voluntary drug rehabilitation, the rest are undergoing compulsory drug rehabilitation. Major Le Dinh Ninh, Deputy Head of Drug Rehabilitation Center No. 1, said: Immediately after receiving the new assignment, the officers and soldiers assigned to take charge quickly approached the work, directly met and thoroughly informed the students about the regulations on the new drug rehabilitation process. The departments quickly overcame difficulties, immediately got to work, ensuring that the management, education , care and treatment of students at the facility maintained normal operations without interruption.
It is known that to improve the effectiveness of drug addiction treatment, drug users entering the facility, whether voluntarily or by force, go through 5 stages. The first is the reception and classification stage. Next is the treatment stage of withdrawal, detoxification and treatment of mental disorders. Then comes the stage of education, counseling on behavior and personality rehabilitation. When the patient is gradually stable, they will move to the stage of labor therapy. To support treatment during this stage, the patient will participate in light work such as sewing bags, sewing jeans and participating in farming and raising livestock. These jobs both improve health and help the patient have a job. Finally, there is the stage of preparing to integrate into the community. At this stage, 15 days before the student returns home, the facility will send a notice to the family, the local government and police to monitor, provide career guidance and post-rehabilitation management.
In addition, to improve the effectiveness of drug rehabilitation, the unit has tightened the rules to prevent drugs from being smuggled into the facility through visits. Visitors must be of the right class (relatives) and have a certificate of confirmation according to regulations. When visiting, in addition to being monitored at the gate, relatives and students can only talk through a net and are supervised by police officers .
In addition to managing and treating students, the unit also strengthens patrolling and control measures to help students have a safe working and treatment environment, preventing escapes...
LXL trainee in Nhu Xuan commune shared: "When I came here for drug rehabilitation (October 2024), the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs managed it, but from March 2025 it was transferred to the police department. Since then, I and the trainees have not been under psychological pressure, but have also been regularly propagandized by police officers and soldiers to help me understand the dangers and harmful effects of drug use, trafficking and transportation on society. From there, it has helped me think and orient my future better after leaving here. I am about to complete the drug rehabilitation process, after reintegrating into the community, I will work in construction with my family members and am determined to give up drugs."
Many relatives of drug addicts said that when they saw the images of police officers and soldiers appearing at this place, they felt secure and confident that the drug addiction treatment process and the reintegration into the community of their children would take place sooner and be more effective.
Talking about the effectiveness of drug addiction treatment at the facility, Major Le Dinh Ninh, Deputy Head of Drug Addiction Treatment Facility No. 1 said: "Although we have only been approaching the task of drug addiction treatment for more than 4 months and there are still many difficulties and confusion. However, with the way we are implementing the 5-stage process, we are confident that drug users after completing the drug addiction treatment process will become good citizens, living a useful life for their families and society."
