MU lost a lot of money because of Rashford and Garnacho

Manchester United face the prospect of having to pay millions of pounds to let players leave Old Trafford in the summer transfer window of 2025.

Rashford receives a salary of more than 300,000 pounds/week at MU.

According to the Telegraph , Manchester United face a complicated financial problem when it comes to selling players who are no longer in coach Ruben Amorim's plans. Names like Marcus Rashford, Sancho and Antony, all of whom have contracts until 2028, are expected to force Manchester United to pay contract compensation, or pay a portion of their wages even if they move to rivals this summer.

The high wages these players receive – Jadon Sancho, for example, earns more than £200,000 a week – mean United face huge costs if they want to terminate their contracts or loan them out to other clubs next season.

In the context of coach Amorim wanting to clean up the squad, the "Red Devils" must spend millions of pounds to compensate for contracts, or pay part of the salaries of Sancho, Rashford and Antony if they want these 3 players to leave Old Trafford this summer.

This is because clubs looking to buy or loan these players are often unwilling to pay the full high wages they are currently receiving at United. For example, in Rashford's loan move to Aston Villa last season, Villa only paid 75% of his wages, with the possibility of rising to 90% depending on his performance.

Similarly, Real Betis paid 84% of Antony's salary when he took the Brazilian striker on loan for the 2024/25 season. Manchester United are currently trying to negotiate a reduction in this cost, but it has not been possible.

Their bargaining position has been significantly weakened by the urgent need to offload players. The public announcement of their intention to push players out has made it difficult for United to get favourable terms.

For example, in the case of Garnacho, the Argentine striker's public rebellion and dissatisfaction with coach Amorim made it difficult for MU to negotiate a high price for the player. MU valued Alejandro Garnacho at over 60 million pounds, but they could only sell the striker for tens of millions of pounds less.
