MU makes Arsenal players confused

Ahead of the 2025/26 Premier League season opener, Jurrien Timber admits Arsenal have absolutely no way of predicting how Manchester United will play.

Timber believes MU is very unpredictable when playing at home.

Last season, Mikel Arteta's team faced Tottenham and Man City early. But this year, the challenge is even more difficult with a trip to Old Trafford to face MU on the evening of August 17. After that, Arsenal will host Leeds, visit Liverpool, meet Nottingham Forest, Man City and then travel to Newcastle.

Timber said: "It's a tough start. It was the same last year, and I think it can go either way. If it starts well, it's great, that's the challenge. When the fixtures were announced, I thought 'oh, this is tough'. All this week we've been talking about United, not Leeds or Liverpool."

"MU have many good players, a talented coach. Last year it was very difficult to play at their stadium, and this year will be no different. Moreover, they have new players, so we really don't know what to face. That's what makes the Premier League special, the teams are getting stronger, each season is more unpredictable," the Dutch defender admitted.

Timber also pointed out that Chelsea and many other clubs are making clear progress, so Arsenal need to focus on themselves even more: "The most important thing is to believe in your own ability. If you keep comparing yourself to others, no team will go far."

After three consecutive runners-up finishes and a busy summer transfer window with the arrivals of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera and Kepa Arrizabalaga, the pressure is on Arteta and his team. If they fail again, the Gunners will have no excuses.
