Phone Arena quoted a source from Korea saying that LG Display tried to convince Apple to use Tandem OLED panels on the iPhone. However, the Korean company's repeated recommendations have not yet yielded results. Apple has not yet made a decision.

Tandem OLED is an advanced display technology used by Apple on the iPad Pro M4 model, providing sharp display while handling motion more smoothly and flexibly.

LG Display still aims to supply Tandem OLED panels for the iPhone launched in 2028. This requires the company to prepare for mass production of the new type of screen. 2028 also marks the 10th anniversary of the launch of the iPhone X, the product that started the period of using the new design.

If Apple decides to use Tandem OLED, future iPhones could have much better displays. The technology works by stacking two OLED layers on top of each other, allowing for greater brightness. More importantly, the process also extends the lifespan and energy efficiency of the display, which in turn extends battery life.

However, there have been rumors that Apple is considering using a different version of this technology, called Simplified Tandem OLED, in which instead of stacking two layers of OLED with all three subpixels (red, green, blue), only the blue subpixel is duplicated.

This leaves the red and green subpixels in the main layer, making the manufacturing process simpler and more cost-effective. Since blue pixels tend to wear out faster and consume more power, the simplified version also extends the life of the display.
