Relieve anxiety

Master, Doctor Nguyen Duc Tai, Deputy Head of the Department of Pediatric and Geriatric Psychiatry - Nghe An Psychiatric Hospital advises candidates to prepare a good foundation for mental health (psychology - mental - spirit). Many simple methods have been proven effective such as changing lifestyle by eating healthy, exercising regularly, and eliminating addictive substances.

Getting enough sleep of 7-8 hours a day helps to improve memory and increase the efficiency of brain activities. Candidates should avoid excessive and prolonged stress, share emotions in a healthy way. Intermittent rest methods such as 25-5 (25 minutes of studying and 5 minutes of complete rest), 45-15 help to reduce prolonged stress, ensure enough rest time or enough sleep time to help the brain recover.

Even if candidates have good habits, anxiety is still a part of life. Some stressful situations such as exams will come with many symptoms that cause discomfort and short-term effects at that time. If candidates feel too stressed, try techniques such as slow breathing, inhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 2 seconds, exhale for 4 seconds, hold the breath for 2 seconds, repeat the slow breathing for 1-2 minutes and can continue if the anxiety is still high. Distracting yourself is a method of doing something other than worrying about the exam, you can go for a walk, read a book, talk to people; instead of worrying too much, make a plan, come up with a solution to calm down.

If the problem the candidate is experiencing is excessive, prolonged or has a major impact on their life and exam, they may need advice from mental health professionals to find the best solution.

Associate Professor Dr. Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Principal of the Universityof Education (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), said that candidates and their families need to maintain a positive and stable spirit, normalize anxiety, and not create more pressure for themselves. Tell yourself positive things when you feel anxious: "I have prepared well", "I just need to stay calm and I can do it", "No need to be perfect, just give it your all".

Experts suggest that candidates should prepare mentally for the exam by practicing simulating the exam: Try doing the questions during the real exam time to get used to the biological rhythm and time allocation. Do not compare yourself with your friends, this will only make you more confused; candidates should plan for the exam day such as transportation, breakfast, what to bring, etc.

Mr. Nam advised candidates not to cram new knowledge at this time, instead, take a rest. Candidates should only review lightly, can review according to mind maps, summaries, each day should choose 2-3 subjects to review, each subject should not exceed 2 hours.

Don't be "offside" in the exam room

At the training conference on exam supervision organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, Mr. Nghiem Van Binh, Head of the Department of Exam Management and Education Quality Assessment, gave some notes to avoid losing points or being "offside". Before taking the exam, candidates must fully write their registration number and personal information on the exam paper, exam paper, multiple-choice answer sheet, and scratch paper. When receiving the exam, you must carefully check the number of pages, the quality of the printed pages, and the exam code on each page to ensure consistency for multiple-choice subjects. If you discover that the exam paper is missing pages or is torn, damaged, smudged, or blurred, candidates must immediately report to the invigilator, no later than 5 minutes from the time the test starts.

For the multiple-choice test, Mr. Binh especially noted that candidates must fill in the blanks on the multiple-choice answer sheet accurately and completely. For the registration number, the number must be filled in completely and the number part (including the zeros in front) must be filled in correctly; the test code must be filled in correctly on the two test receipts. The test must be taken on the pre-printed multiple-choice answer sheet according to regulations; candidates may only fill in the registration number, test code and answer boxes with black pencil; in case of filling in the wrong answer or wanting to change the answer, the pencil must be erased from the old box and then filled in the selected box.

Candidates must check the test paper to ensure that it contains the correct number of questions and pages as stated on the test paper and that all pages of the test paper have the same test code. The test paper must not be submitted before the end of the test time. When the time is up, the test answer sheet must be returned to the invigilator and two test receipts must be signed.

On the day of the exam, candidates should be present at the exam room at the specified time; present their ID card/passport and receive their exam card. If there are any errors in personal information, they must immediately report to the supervisor or the person on duty at the exam site for timely handling. In case of loss of ID card/passport or other necessary documents, they must immediately report to the head of the exam site for consideration and handling. Mr. Binh especially emphasized that candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes late after the exam start time signal will not be allowed to take the exam that day.
