According to information from Con Dao National Park, tourists participating in a tour of two small islands in Con Dao National Park were lucky to see a school of dolphins playing with a canoe and two turtles mating.
In fact, this is not the first time dolphins have appeared in the management area of Con Dao National Park. Previously, on the morning of September 22, 2019, in the Ong Dung sea area, belonging to the Marine Conservation Component of Con Dao National Park (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), the patrol force of the Con Dao National Park Forest Protection Department recorded the appearance of a school of ocean dolphins with about 30 - 50 individuals.
Or in 2023, people rescued a stranded dolphin in Con Dao and brought it back to the sea.
Con Dao National Park covers an area of nearly 6,000 hectares on land and 14,000 hectares of water. The relationship between coral reefs, seagrass beds and mangrove forests has created a favorable environment for breeding, nurturing and conserving marine species. The shallow waters off the island are also home to many precious species such as sea turtles, dolphins, dugongs, etc. The biodiversity of Con Dao's sea area is of national significance for marine nature conservation in Vietnam.

Currently, Con Dao is the area with the most sea turtles in Vietnam, with two common species being hawksbill and white-tailed turtles. There are 17 sandbanks recorded as turtle nesting grounds, of which up to four are recorded as having 1,000 mother turtles laying eggs each year. Con Dao is also the only place in Vietnam where there is still a population of dugongs (Dugong dugong) whose lives are closely linked to seagrass beds.
From 2014 to present, the Management Board of Con Dao National Park has implemented the Program to monitor rare marine animals appearing in the Marine Conservation component of Con Dao National Park, and has recorded a number of marine mammals that regularly appear in the waters of Con Dao such as: Dolphins, Whales, small sperm whales and Dugongs. Every year, there are about 10 groups of dolphins appearing, each group has about 10 individuals, and there are some groups of dolphins with about 100 individuals appearing and from 8 to 12 groups of Dugongs appearing, each time there are from 1 to 2 individuals appearing in this sea area.
In early 2019, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recognized Con Dao sea area as one of two important areas for marine mammal conservation in Vietnam. The recognition of Con Dao sea area by IUCN as an important area for marine mammal conservation has added further evidence of the diversity and richness of marine biodiversity in this area.
Dolphins are marine mammals that live in oceans and rivers, and have a special relationship with whales. There are nearly 40 species of dolphins in the world , living in the oceans and certain rivers on Earth. Their size can range from 1.2m to 9.5m and their weight can range from 40kg to 10 tons. They usually live in shallow seas and eat fish and squid. Dolphins are famous for their intelligence and friendliness to humans.
