On February 12, the Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention Department, Tay Ninh Provincial Police, said that this unit had just received a report from Ms. NHK and Mr. TMĐ., two victims who were threatened by some people to release "hot" clips and images for blackmail.
At the police station, Ms. K. said that at the end of 2023, she received a friend request from a Facebook account named Thanh Dat.
During the chat, Ms. K. revealed a sensitive video . After that, the above account blocked K. from being friends with her. At this time, another Facebook account sent a friend request and said that it had a "sensitive" video of Ms. K.

This account asked K. to transfer 5 million VND to delete the video, otherwise it would be posted on social media.
Similarly, Mr. D. also made friends with a Facebook account named Hang Ni. During their love texting, the two often made video calls to show off their bodies to each other.
Then, this account asked Mr. D. to transfer money, otherwise, it would use these images to post on social networks and send them to friends.
Worried that the image would be leaked, D. transferred 8 million VND to the bank account provided by the account holder. Then, this person asked D. to transfer another 20 million VND to delete the clip. Unable to find the money, D. went to the police to report.
Tay Ninh Provincial Police recommend that people be vigilant and not share personal information or "sensitive" images on social networks to avoid being blackmailed.
