Competing with the "underdog" mentality helps the Vietnamese players feel comfortable and ready to give their all. Nguyen Ngoc Thuan and Nguyen Van Quoc Duy are two hitters who have shown their abilities when facing strong opponents. In the match against Korea in the group stage, Ngoc Thuan and Quoc Duy had moments of confident play, putting pressure on their opponents right from the serve and scoring very encouraging points.
