On the afternoon of August 25, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team (ranked 22nd in the world ) entered the second match of Group G of the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship (WWC) against the German women's team (ranked 11th in the world).
In the first match, while the Vietnamese women's team lost to Poland 1-3, the German girls beat Kenya 3-0.
With superior skills and strength, the German women's team is rated much higher than its opponent.
In set 1, with Thanh Thuy, Nhu Quynh, Kieu Trinh, Lam Oanh, Khang Dang, Nguyen Thi Trinh on the field, the Vietnamese women's team fought hard with their opponents as they continuously chased the score.
The German women's team continuously took the lead, at one point leading by 3 points (10-7), but the Vietnamese girls scored 3 consecutive points to tie the score at 10-10.
But at the end of the set, the German women's team showed their class by continuously scoring points to win 25-18.
Set 2 witnessed difficulties for the Vietnamese women's team when they were continuously behind quite deeply.
The biggest mark in this set of Thanh Thuy and her teammates was scoring 5 consecutive goals after being down 12-24, before losing 17-25.
Set 3 continued to witness the efforts of coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet's students.
The Vietnamese girls continuously kept up with the score but at the decisive moments still could not overcome the opponent's spirit, thereby losing 21-15.
Losing to the German women's team 0-3 (18-25, 17-25, 21-25), the Vietnamese women's team officially stopped at the group stage. The team will play the final match against Kenya on August 27.
