After the 4-0 victory over Vietnam in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers on June 10, Malaysia's head coach Peter Cklamovski suddenly caused a stir in the country with his statement hinting at serious problems within the team.

He affirmed that this victory was not simply 3 points, but also an "escape" from a series of behind-the-scenes turmoil with the presence of politics , betrayal and invisible pressures.

"The Malaysian team is having internal problems, we have been betrayed. If we don't win, I will be convicted. Everything only changed because we won," Malaysia Today quoted the Australian coach as saying three weeks ago.

The statement immediately created a wave of fierce controversy. The press and fans raised big questions: who is the traitor? What political factors are interfering with the profession?

It is worth mentioning that it was not until nearly 3 weeks later that FAM spoke up about this incident, at a time when they were under pressure because of the controversial naturalization of Argentine player Facundo Garces.

Specifically, FAM president Datuk Joehari Ayub spoke up and asked coach Peter Cklamovski to specifically explain his statement.

In a statement to The Star newspaper on July 1, Mr. Joehari said that FAM is ready to support the team but does not want to be dragged into vague speculation. He emphasized that if there is a real problem, the coaching staff needs to present it clearly so that the federation can resolve it once and for all.

“Such statements can easily be misunderstood or mistranslated. If the coach has anything to say, it is best to work directly with FAM. We have always been with the team and have supported them to the best of our ability,” said Mr. Joehari.

Cklamovski’s response has yet to be made public. Meanwhile, state media such as Bernama and Sinar Daily reported that FAM had refused to comment further on the incident, insisting that the role of explanation rests with the head coach.

The federation representative said that ambiguous statements to the media could lead to dangerous misunderstandings, affecting the team spirit and image of the national team.

Observers say this is a sensitive time for Malaysian football, as the team has just gone through a crisis in performance and is being surrounded by criticism surrounding its player naturalization policy.

The fact that a foreign coach suddenly publicly criticized the internal affairs further increased suspicions about conflicts in management and administration.

Mr. Cklamovski took over as head coach of the Malaysian team at the beginning of this year, and has so far maintained an unbeaten record (2 wins, 1 draw) with the team. However, this noisy incident could lead to the Australian strategist being fired.
