On the afternoon of July 2, singers Lam Hung, Lam Vu, Quach Tuan Du, and Chau Gia Kiet met to share about the music night Youth Memories, which will take place on July 5 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Calling "past its prime" is less hurtful.

The quartet Lam Hung, Lam Vu, Quach Tuan Du, Chau Gia Kiet frankly shared with the audience's opinion comparing them to the music nights Anh trai say hi, Anh trai vu ngan cong gai and thought that they were "out of date".

Singer Quach Tuan Du shared that the audience who use the word “out of date” are people who don’t love us. If they loved us, they would use the word “out of date” so we wouldn’t be hurt.

Singer Lam Vu said that it is normal for us to be called outdated because "the next wave pushes the previous wave", "when the bamboo is old, new shoots grow".

"Now we still have time, so how can young singers have time? We should respect each singer because each singer has a time to be famous.

Using outdated words will hurt the artist. We are confident that the concert will be held and the audience will still come in large numbers" - Lam Vu emphasized.

Singer Chau Gia Kiet shared that everyone grows up and gets old. After more than 20 years of singing, the audience still comes to watch and support him, which is very precious.

"It's obvious that there are many young people replacing us, but living so that people remember and love us is important" - Chau Gia Kiet confided.

Singer Lam Hung admits that singing is only temporary, unlike business that can be done forever.

“This profession has continuity, before us there was the generation of Ngoc Son, Lam Truong - they are people in our memories. We happily accept everything without any stress. I believe that one star cannot make the sky. We hope the next generation will also have beautiful memories with the profession” - Lam Hung confided.

Mix of classic and new mixes

Youth Memories is a rare program that brings together four singers Lam Hung, Lam Vu, Quach Tuan Du, Chau Gia Kiet on the same stage. The friendship of the four singers has been maintained until today thanks to mutual respect.

In addition to singing the hits associated with each person's name, the quartet will combine through a mashup of 8 songs with the accompaniment of a young band. The singers will also improvise according to the audience's requests.

Quach Tuan Du thinks that Lam Hung, Lam Vu, Chau Gia Kiet are solo singers so this collaboration will be more difficult. He used to sing in the boy band D&D.

The special thing is that the singers sing half of the song according to the classic arrangement, and the second half is renewed to suit the tastes of today's audience.

This music night will connect generations 7X, 8X with artists who are their memories and youth.

Talking about his youthful memories, Lam Vu remembers the Trong Dong and Lan Anh stages... where singers used to perform and meet each other every night, but now they are just memories.

“We miss these stages very much because they are like the “kindergarten” of singers when they first started their careers, grew up, and were loved by the audience. Maybe now the audience prefers new models, bigger stages, that is an inevitable rule” - Lam Vu confided.

Salary when I first started singing

Chau Gia Kiet shared that at first he sang at weddings, singing 5 shows each night. He received a weekly salary of 125,000 to 127,000 VND. That was in 1998.

The first money Quach Tuan Du earned from singing at a restaurant was 20,000 VND/show. Every night, he sang 4 shows, earning 80,000 VND in 1997.

Singer Lam Hung sang his first show in Nha Be and was paid 60,000 VND in 1999. The reason he was paid so much was because he was introduced by artist Vu Linh.

Singer Lam Vu earned tens of thousands for his first show thanks to the show organizer's connection.
