Just a few days after its release, the MV “Writing the Story of Peace” by singer Tung Duong and musician Nguyen Van Chung surpassed 1 million views on YouTube. Not only a musical product, the MV is considered a work of art and history, associated with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.
MV "Continue the story of peace" surpasses 1 million views.
Besides Tung Duong's powerful voice and Nguyen Van Chung's meaningful lyrics, the success of the MV is also the result of a young crew who worked focused and meticulously to recreate the battlefield in every detail.
Sharing with VTC News, project manager Vu Hanh Nguyen said the team had to pay attention to every small detail, from the way of saluting, standing posture to the way of wearing medals, all had to be consulted directly with veterans to avoid mistakes.
The most difficult part was the battlefield scene – recreating part of the Dien Bien Phu battle. The crew chose to build a real scene using soil, rocks, barbed wire, rubble, smoke and fire… instead of relying on special effects.
“We had to make barbed wire fences and fake brick walls with iron, wood, foam, etc. ourselves, but we still had to make it look like it had been destroyed by bombs. The fire and smoke had to be as realistic as possible, so there were many potential risks. Everyone had to get their hands dirty and work carefully to achieve both visual effects and safety,” she said.

Right on the filming set, Tung Duong repeatedly expressed his thanks for being supported in editing every small detail: from posture, camera angle to the most realistic image of a soldier.
Director Nguyen Viet Dung - the scriptwriter and director emphasized the seamless element throughout the MV, in the spirit that musician Nguyen Van Chung conveyed. During 7 days of preparation and 5 days of setting up the scene, he and his crew had to race against time. The rain was favorable for digging the ground but affected the foam walls, burlap sacks, and model guns; wet firewood was difficult to burn, causing interruptions in the filming. " Luckily, before filming the big scene, everything was handled properly," he recalled.
A small but impressive detail is the scene where Tung Duong blackens his face to transform into a soldier. According to the director, this is the highlight that brings true emotions, helping the audience see more clearly the hardships and sacrifices of soldiers in war.

Director of photography Nguyen Minh Thong said he focused on lighting, color, and camera shots. He spent 70-80% of pre-production work on the explosion scene, coordinating with the effects team to make the most of the narrow space.
“The actual battlefield is very large, and we only have a limited setting. Therefore, each shot must be carefully calculated and discussed closely with the effects team so as not to miss any details. Just one mistake can affect the entire progress,” Thong shared. The moment that moved him the most was when the big scene appeared exactly as originally envisioned – a testament to the team’s persistent efforts.
The special effects department led by Nguyen The Trung participated right from the pre-production stage. They created a 3D previs simulation of the explosion scene, camera angles, and lighting to save time and minimize risks during real filming.

The biggest pressure for the team was the tight deadline, unpredictable weather and limited manpower. “There were nights when we had to sit and discuss until dawn to adjust the details, so that it was both in line with the director’s ideas and technically feasible. When I saw the final image on the screen, I felt extremely proud because the message of peace had reached the audience,” Trung said.
From hand-crafting the set, controlling every historical detail, designing the lighting, setting up the explosions, to handling the special effects, the crew worked tirelessly to bring a complete product.
