Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Le Thi Hoai Huong, Director of the Quang Binh Provincial Museum, emphasized that the famous general Nguyen Huu Canh (1650–1700, born in Phuc Tin village, Quang Binh), was the son of Chieu Vo Marquis Nguyen Huu Dat. Le Thanh Marquis Nguyen Huu Canh was famous for his literary and martial skills, holding the positions of Commander, Commander, and Governor of Dinh Binh Khuong and was assigned the important responsibility of overseeing the South. He established Gia Dinh Palace, built Tran Bien and Phien Tran Palaces, and laid the first administrative foundation for the present-day Southern region.

With his strategic vision and ability to win people's hearts, the famous general Nguyen Huu Canh recruited people from the Central region to reclaim land and establish villages, building a peaceful and harmonious society between the Kinh and Cham people. He also left a strong mark on Quang Binh in the way he named places such as Phuoc Long, Tan Binh, Binh Hoa, Binh Phuoc , expressing his deep love for his homeland.

In 1700, on the way back to Dinh Tran Bien after pacifying the border, he died suddenly in Tien Giang . His coffin was initially buried in Cu Lao Pho (Dong Nai), then reburied in Thac Ro, now in Truong Thuy commune, Le Thuy district, Quang Binh. Currently, his tomb and church have both been ranked as historical relics.

Today's death anniversary is not only an occasion to pay tribute to our ancestors but also to arouse national pride, fostering patriotism in today's and future generations.

Mr. Nguyen Van The, Secretary of the Party Committee of Van Ninh commune, said that the annual death anniversary of Duc Le Thanh Hau Nguyen Huu Canh is both an occasion to pay tribute to the meritorious person who opened the country, and to educate the younger generation about the morality of remembering the source of water when drinking water, and to show gratitude to those who have made great contributions to the country.
