On August 22, at the headquarters of the Lao Ministry of National Defense in the capital Vientiane, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan and Lao Vice President Pany Yathotou attended the ceremony to recognize “Truong Son Road - Ho Chi Minh Road in Laos” as a National Historical Relic of Laos, chaired by Senior Lieutenant General Khamlieng Outhakaysone, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of National Defense of Laos.

Also attending the ceremony were Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam; along with many leaders of ministries, branches, localities of Laos and relevant agencies of Vietnam and Laos.

The ceremony took place in an atmosphere of special friendship and solidarity between the two Parties, two States and peoples of the two countries.

On behalf of the leaders of the Ministry of National Defense and the Lao-Vietnamese delegation of experts, Lieutenant General Vongsone Inpanphim, Director of the General Department of Politics of the Lao People's Army, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Laos, reported the results of the survey and construction of a scientific dossier on the historical site of the Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos.

Laos and Vietnam are two neighboring countries, sharing the same ideals and traditions of solidarity, support and mutual assistance.

To meet the requirements of the task of fighting for national liberation and fighting against the US to save the country, in December 1960, the Central Committee of the Lao People's Party (now the Lao People's Revolutionary Party) agreed with the Vietnam Workers' Party (now the Communist Party of Vietnam ) to survey and build the strategic transportation route "Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos."

Historical practice has proven that the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos not only plays the role of a strategic military and logistics transportation route but also a strategic base that contributes to important assistance between the two sides, becoming a route of special loyal and pure fighting alliance and solidarity between the people of Laos and Vietnam.

The Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos is also a route serving the common battlefield of the three countries of Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.

Given that role and importance, the Lao and Vietnamese Parties and Governments have agreed to assign the two countries' Ministries of National Defense to send a joint delegation of experts to survey and collect information on historical sites along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos from 2023-2024.

The two sides' expert delegation surveyed 18 locations in 7 provinces of Laos. Despite many difficulties such as some relics are no longer intact and have changed over time, the two sides' expert delegation collected a lot of information to serve as a basis for research and to build a scientific dossier of the historical relic of the Truong Son - Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos.

Lieutenant General Inpanphim said that after receiving this project, the Lao Ministry of National Defense continued to develop it into a historical tourist attraction for Lao cadres, soldiers and people of all ethnic groups, especially the young generation, to learn, study and foster the special relationship between the two countries; learn the creative values in terms of science, military art, strategy and tactics of the two armies to develop and apply them appropriately to the new era.

At the ceremony, the Lao Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism presented the "Certificate of recognition of the Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail in Laos" as a national historical relic of Laos to Senior Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakon, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Laos.

The recognition of the Truong Son Trail - Ho Chi Minh Trail relic in Laos by the Lao Party and State as a national historical relic is of great significance. This is not only a recognition of the historical value and great sacrifices of previous revolutionary generations of Vietnam and Laos, but also an everlasting symbol of the special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

It is a priceless spiritual asset, affirming the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos that will forever be green, forever strong, always lasting over time and always in the hearts of every citizen of the two countries.

Earlier that morning, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan laid a wreath at the Lao Martyrs' Monument in the capital Vientiane.

As planned, in the afternoon of the same day, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan visited and presented gifts at the Vocational Training Center for Disabled Women in the capital Vientiane./.
