According to the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) correspondent in Laos, on the afternoon of August 12, at the National Cultural Palace in Vientiane, the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party solemnly held a rally to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Lao Press, Communications and Printing Day (August 13, 1950 - August 13, 2025).
Attending the ceremony were Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone; Head of the Central Propaganda Department of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Khamphanh Pheuyavong; and representatives of central and local press agencies, ministries, branches, propaganda, media and publishing agencies across Laos.
In his opening speech, Mr. Khamphanh Pheuyavong reviewed the glorious tradition of the Lao press, media and printing industry during 75 years of construction and growth, accompanying the mission of protecting and developing the country, playing the role of a strong voice in propagating the Party and State's guidelines and policies, promoting and educating patriotism and law-abidingness among the people, encouraging the people to preserve and promote the fine cultural identity of the Lao ethnic groups, thereby promoting socio -economic development.
To date, Lao press, media and printing agencies have developed in both quantity and quality and applied advanced science and modern information technology to produce, transmit and disseminate domestic and international information faster, more promptly and widely.

Speaking at the ceremony, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone highly appreciated the efforts and great contributions of Lao journalists, media and printing and publishing staff over the past 75 years.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Lao press has constantly innovated and gradually modernized both in content and form, keeping up with technological trends and meeting the requirements of Laos' socio-economic development in the current period of deep integration.
The Lao Prime Minister asked the country's journalists to continue to improve their political qualities, professional qualifications and professional ethics; at the same time, strengthen propaganda work on the country's development achievements and spread positive values in society.
He also called on press agencies to proactively fight against false and distorted information, protect national interests and socio-political stability.
On this special occasion, Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone and his high-ranking delegation visited booths displaying press and publishing products. At the booth of the Lao News Agency (KPL) - an important partner of VNA, Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone signed the guestbook, expressing his deep gratitude for the great contributions of the Lao News Agency in the work of propagating and disseminating the Party and State's guidelines, policies and strategies, contributing positively to the development of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. The Prime Minister sent his best wishes to the Lao News Agency to continue to develop strongly, affirming its core role in the country's revolutionary press.
This year's exhibition brings together 31 booths from domestic and international press agencies, including 12 print newspapers and 19 electronic newspapers, becoming a highlight in the series of activities celebrating the 75th anniversary of Lao Press, Communications and Printing Day.
At the event, press agencies introduced many typical works and unique products, vividly reflecting the comprehensive development of the Lao press and media industry during the renovation period.
The publications not only show innovation in both content and form but also demonstrate the increasingly important role of the press in the country's political, economic and social life.
In particular, the Lao News Agency displayed VNA's products, Vietnam Pictorial, to introduce to international friends more vivid images of Vietnamese culture, people and social life.
This is a meaningful activity, contributing to promoting understanding and solidarity between the people of the two countries, while affirming the close cooperative relationship between the two national news agencies./.
