Doctors at Molinette Hospital in Turin, Italy, have performed a groundbreaking surgery to restore vision to a 40-day-old baby boy.

This is the first time in the world that 3D technology has been applied in surgery to treat congenital cataracts, associated with a very rare and serious disease in the back of the eye.

The surgery involved bilateral vitrectomy and cataract treatment, using 3D imaging technology to precisely manipulate both the front and back of the eyes.

The hospital's team of ophthalmologists successfully performed the procedure, bringing new hope to the future of the child patient.

This is not only a huge step forward in medicine, but also opens up prospects for patients suffering from similar pathologies.
