Journalist Ngoc Man on a field trip
Journalism must bring the "breath" of life
President Ho Chi Minh once advised: “The task of a journalist is important and glorious. To fulfill that task well, one must strive to study politics , improve one’s ideology, improve one’s cultural level, and delve deeply into one’s profession,…”. For journalist Ngoc Man, every day of working as a journalist is a day of trying to fulfill one’s duty.
Journalist Ngoc Man has many years of experience in the fields of Party building and health care . She reminds herself to raise awareness of self-training in ethics, working style and civic duty of journalists. She believes that, in addition to the above factors, learning from Uncle Ho's writing style, the press in general and herself in particular need to promptly discover and praise new, advanced models, and promote the Party spirit and fighting spirit of the Party newspaper.
“Uncle Ho once said, “A person without good ethics cannot be a good journalist,” so cultivating professional ethics is a regular and continuous task for us. Journalist ethics, as well as learning and following Uncle Ho’s example, may seem lofty, but in fact it is closely linked to daily work and cannot be neglected.
Learning from Uncle Ho in journalism, I think, is also to train my pen to be sharper, my heart to be purer, to serve the common mission for the development of the homeland, the country and the specific, close interests of each citizen. That is the conscience, the responsibility and also to maintain the reputation of each journalist with the public who is increasingly more qualified and demanding..." - journalist Ngoc Man said.
Clearly identifying the target audience, Uncle Ho gave instructions on how to write, how to write simply and truthfully so that people could understand most easily. He emphasized that one must write in a way that is appropriate to the level of the audience, write clearly and neatly; do not be greedy in using words, do not use words that you do not know well, use words that our language has, so that the masses can understand, believe, and be determined to follow his call. Uncle Ho always demanded to preserve the purity of the Vietnamese language and protect and develop the national language. Remembering that advice, she reminded herself that in each of her works, she must try to convey the core content and choose suitable characters.
Growing up at the "common home" called Long An Newspaper (now Long An Radio and Television Newspaper ), for more than 15 years in the profession, journalist Ngoc Man was evaluated and classified as an excellent civil servant and party member; a grassroots emulation fighter, and won the Provincial Press Award for many years.
Ensure accuracy and honesty
Mr. Tran Huynh Phong said that being careful and precise is a requirement for reporters in charge of domestic affairs.
In his 12 years in the profession, reporter Tran Huynh Phong has struggled with topics that "breathe" life. To have good topics, he often goes to the grassroots to grasp the thoughts, feelings, and legitimate aspirations of the people to act as a "bridge" to reflect to the relevant levels and sectors for timely resolution.
In charge of the domestic affairs sector - a subject area considered difficult, he had to read and study a lot. Mr. Phong said that learning from Uncle Ho's journalism style, authenticity is always put first. Regardless of the genre, Uncle Ho's articles always reflect objective reality, not "glorifying", "blackening" or being one-sided. This is the noble quality of professional ethics, the foundation of a true journalist.
Mr. Phong said: “Learning from Uncle Ho, journalists correctly define their purpose and tasks, writing for whom? Writing for what?, further affirming their important position, closely following core values through providing timely, honest, accurate and multi-dimensional news and articles, contributing to orienting public opinion, creating consensus in perception and action within the entire political system and the people.”
