Long An Press in the flow of 100 years of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press

2025 is a special year with many important events for the country and Long An province; a year of acceleration and breakthrough in implementing the goals and tasks of the entire 2020-2025 term; a year of holding party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress; a year of implementing the revolution of streamlining the organizational apparatus, building a 2-level local government and the year of celebrating the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day - a particularly important milestone affirming the great role of the provincial press throughout the history of the nation.

It can be affirmed that the achievements that the province has made in recent years are the result of the leadership of the Standing Committee, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, the efforts of the entire political system, the business community and the people in the province; in which there is a very important contribution and companionship role of the provincial press agencies, journalists and resident reporters of the Central press agencies.

Press agencies and journalists in the province have made great efforts to fulfill their assigned functions and tasks and achieved many important results. The provincial press agencies have closely followed the leadership, direction and orientation of the Central and Provincial Party Committees and properly implemented their principles and objectives; performed well the role of orienting ideology, public opinion and supervising and criticizing society; at the same time, creatively and effectively carried out propaganda work to create consensus among the people with the policies and resolutions of the Party and State.

The press has widely and deeply promoted the important political, economic , cultural and social events of the province, thereby contributing significantly to the success of the events. The Provincial Press Awards continue to attract the participation of many press agencies from other provinces and cities. This not only affirms the stature, scale, prestige and quality of the award but also creates opportunities for press agencies inside and outside the province to continue to coordinate effectively to produce more quality press works.

The team of journalists in the province with responsibility, enthusiasm, passion for the profession and deep affection for their homeland Long An did not hesitate to face difficulties, being present at the scene to create quality press products, imbued with the "breath" of life, which were recognized and highly appreciated by the public, audiences, listeners and readers.

In the digital age, the province's press agencies have made efforts to innovate, promptly adapt to the trends of the times, actively applying information technology and digital technology in press and communication activities. Thereby, both improving the quality and effectiveness of propaganda and expanding the coverage, meeting the information access needs of the public at home and abroad.

In particular, the central press agencies stationed in the province have coordinated well with the provincial press agencies. Thanks to that, information and outstanding results on the socio-economic situation, good models, and effective practices of localities in the province have been promoted on many national television channels and newspapers.

Press products are increasingly invested in, rich in content, creative in form, gradually affirming their pioneering role in promptly and comprehensively reflecting the work of Party building and the political system, socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of the Provincial Party Committee. Many authors, journalists and reporters have boldly researched and delved into major and urgent issues of the country, province and locality; at the same time, actively spreading good values, new models, good practices, and typical examples among cadres, party members and people.

In the coming years, the press will be strongly influenced by the digital transformation trend, the public's need for information as well as the requirements for the role and responsibility of the press in the new context. In order to successfully complete the set targets and plans, creating the foundation and premise for a breakthrough in the next term, the provincial and central press agencies residing in the province need to pay attention to performing well the following key tasks:

Firstly, press agencies need to continue to adhere to the orientation, principles and goals to better perform the task of informing and propagating political issues and events of the country and province. The focus is on arranging the organization of the political system, building a two-level local government, and propagating Party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party.

Second, in the context of information spreading rapidly on the Internet and social networks, press agencies need to more strongly affirm their role and position and clearly identify that the positive information flow of the press must still be the mainstream, accurate, timely and objective information flow, thereby, doing a good job of orienting ideology and public opinion, creating trust and high consensus among cadres, party members and people of all walks of life.

Third, the province's press and propaganda agencies need to properly implement the Press Law and its guiding documents, the National Press Development and Management Plan until 2025, and Regulation No. 101-QD/TW of the Secretariat on responsibilities, powers, and the appointment, dismissal, rewards, and discipline of press agency leaders.

In particular, it is necessary to promptly adapt to the trend of modern journalism, promote digital transformation and the application of information technology and digital technology in journalism activities in accordance with the spirit of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of Journalism to 2025, with a vision to 2030, attached to Decision No. 348/QD-TTg, dated April 6, 2023 of the Prime Minister; develop multi-platform, multimedia journalism products; build a complete and scientific database of data, images, and digital documents, meeting the requirements of journalism activities and serving the political tasks of the province.

Fourth, journalists, reporters, and editors need to fulfill their roles and missions as soldiers on the cultural and ideological front; continue to strictly implement the Code of Ethics for Vietnamese Journalists and the Rules for Using Social Networks for Vietnamese Journalists; and constantly study, practice, and improve their capacity and professional ethics to create high-quality journalistic works.

Fifth, the competent authorities, press management agencies and Party committees, authorities, agencies and units in the province need to effectively implement the tasks and solutions on "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media"; direct press agencies to effectively implement Directive No. 09/CT-TTg dated March 31, 2023 of the Prime Minister on improving the effectiveness of information and propaganda work to serve political tasks and essential information of press agencies in the period of 2021-2025 and Directive No. 07/CT-TTg dated March 21, 2023 of the Prime Minister on strengthening policy communication work.

It can be affirmed that, throughout the 100-year journey of the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press, the press in general and Long An press in particular have affirmed their important role and position, making positive contributions to the development of the homeland and the country. We believe that the good achievements in the past years will be a solid foundation for press agencies and journalists to continue to strive, reap more successes in the following years and always accompany the Party committees, authorities, agencies and units at all levels in the cause of building an increasingly developed province./.
