The delegation listened to a report on the implementation of tasks in the first 6 months of the year and the preparation and implementation of the 2-level local government model in Lai Chau province.
Accordingly, Lai Chau achieved an estimated 6-month GRDP growth rate of 5%. Many economic indicators increased compared to the same period in 2024, 100% of newly built and repaired houses under the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the whole province have been implemented, of which 6,999 houses have been completed.
Up to this point, the province has also completed the merger of commune-level administrative units, ended the activities of district-level and commune-level Party Committees, and established commune-level Party Committees after reorganization and consolidation.
The province has also mobilized 362 cadres, civil servants and public employees working at agencies, units of the provincial and district-level Party blocs and mass organizations and over 11,600 cadres, civil servants and public employees from districts and cities to work in 38 communes and wards.
Lai Chau province has proposed that the Ministry of Finance promptly submit to competent authorities for consideration support of about VND34 billion for administrative unit arrangement, along with more than VND235 billion for infrastructure investment for the two-level government model. The province also proposed a number of issues related to the public investment capital plan.
Speaking at the meeting, Finance Minister Nguyen Van Thang highly appreciated Lai Chau's determination in implementing the Central Resolutions. He suggested that the province continue to review and remove difficulties, promote socio-economic development, strive to achieve 8% growth, and increase budget revenue in 2025 higher, at least 10% compared to 2024.
The Minister also requested Lai Chau to soon stabilize its organizational structure after July 1, and requested relevant ministries and branches to coordinate to remove obstacles and support the province in completing its political tasks.
Regarding the province's proposal, the Minister of Finance requested relevant ministries and branches to consider responding specifically to the locality, and at the same time send a document to the Ministry of Finance to summarize and report to the Prime Minister. In particular, continue to support the locality in removing difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing political tasks.
