Accordingly, after the arrangement, Lai Chau will have 36 communes and 2 wards, a reduction of nearly 65% of the number of communes and wards compared to before.
Also at the ceremony, Lai Chau province announced the Decisions of the Provincial Party Executive Committee on ending the activities of the old district and commune-level Party Committees and establishing new commune-level Party Committees after the merger.
Accordingly, Lai Chau has 8 district and city party committees and 106 old commune-level party committees ending their operations from July 1; 38 new commune-level party committees will officially start operating from July 1.

Announce the Decisions of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Lai Chau province on the establishment of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee at the commune and ward level.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, comrade Nguyen Van Thang, member of the Party Central Committee and Minister of Finance, highly appreciated the sense of responsibility, political determination, proactiveness, innovation and creativity of Lai Chau province in implementing the Resolution of the 11th Central Conference, as well as important Resolutions, Conclusions and Directives of the Central Committee on the arrangement of the apparatus and administrative units.
To ensure the two-level government apparatus operates effectively and smoothly from July 1, 2025, the Minister of Finance requested the Party Committee and provincial government to closely follow the Central Government's directives and local practices to urgently perfect the organizational apparatus, establish and arrange specialized agencies at the provincial and communal levels, ensure the normal operation of the staff, civil servants, public employees, and workers, and not interrupt administrative work, maintaining the people's trust.
At the same time, the Minister of Finance requested the Party Committee and provincial government to proactively arrange local budget sources and legal financial sources to deploy apparatus arrangement and resolve regimes and policies for workers in a fair and transparent manner.
Along with that, the province needs to resolutely and fully implement the tasks under its authority, especially the regulations on decentralization, delegation and division of authority, ensuring that the new government apparatus operates smoothly, bringing the government closer to the people, serving the people better, bringing a more prosperous and happier life to the people of all ethnic groups.
