Lai Chau: More than 2,500 people will participate in the xoe dance performance during Independence Day

The Lai Chau Province Independence Day Organizing Committee said that the 2025 Independence Day program in Than Uyen commune at the provincial level will take place from August 30 to September 2.

Chairman of the People's Committee of Than Uyen Commune Phan Van Ngoc stated that the highlight of this year's Independence Day is the xoe dance performance, with the participation of more than 2,500 people.

Before the xoe dance, there will be a khen dance and an umbrella dance of the Mong people. In particular, this year's xoe dance is different from previous years because the xoe hoop design team aims to connect and unite ethnic groups.

The images of the big screen are arranged based on the culture of ethnic groups in the Northwest region, such as the Pieu scarf of the Thai ethnic group, the petals of the Northwest Ban flower, and the shape of a five-pointed star.

Independence Day consists of two parts: ceremony and festival. The ceremony includes activities of gratitude and remembrance such as: Visiting the Martyrs' Cemetery, Incense Offering Ceremony at the Traditional House of Ban Luot Historical Relic Site and Flag Raising Ceremony.

The festival includes many unique cultural, sports and tourism activities such as: Art program to celebrate Independence Day and Solidarity Xoe Circle; “Non nuoc Khoen On” festival; “Huong sac Muong Than” festival; exchange program of Thai ethnic culture preservation clubs; Traditional culinary contest of ethnic groups, rice cake pounding competition of Than Uyen, Muong Than, Muong Kim, Khoen On communes.

Along with that are activities to experience folk games; ethnic cultural activities in the cultural space; KOMOMO Than Uyen International Running Race 2025; ethnic sports competitions; The first Than Uyen Commune Open Pickleball Tournament, 2025; Swallow-tailed boat racing; Motorized paragliding flight program...

Independence Day in Lai Chau also includes activities to display, introduce and promote OCOP products and some typical agricultural products of Lai Chau province and 4 communes of Lao Cai and Son La provinces; Nam Pat market.

Many tourism activities will take place at tourist attractions in Than Uyen commune including: Pine Hill Zone 7, Love Hill Zone 9 tourist attraction, Ban Luot historical relic site, Tham Phe fishing village; Pa Khom bay, Muong Kim commune; pine hill in Chit village, water wheel in Sang Nga village, Na Phat, in Muong Than commune...

Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lai Chau province, Tran Manh Hung, informed that the Independence Day in Than Uyen not only attracts people of all ethnic groups in the province, but is also a destination for many people of all ethnic groups in the Northwest region, domestic and foreign tourists.

Therefore, Lai Chau province aims to build Independence Day into a separate tourism product to attract tourists; ensure safety for people and tourists to celebrate Independence Day in 2025 impressively and happily./.
