On July 5, People's Hospital 115 (HCMC) said it had saved the life of a young male patient who was brought back from Cambodia in critical condition.
According to the patient, he met a girl through social media and was then invited to visit Cambodia for a few days. However, as soon as he crossed the border, he was restrained by a group of people and taken to a detention area in Cambodia.
Doctor Nguyen Thien Phu - People's Hospital 115 - said the patient was admitted to the hospital with difficult breathing, chest pain, and severe psychological trauma.
Through paraclinical examination, doctors determined that the patient had multiple injuries: kidney injury, small bilateral pleural effusion, liver parenchyma damage with elevated liver enzymes, and soft tissue damage spreading to the chest, abdomen, and right back.
As soon as the patient was admitted, the hospital's surgical resuscitation department quickly assessed, made an active treatment plan, and closely monitored him.
In addition to treating physical injuries, the treatment team also pays special attention to the severe psychological trauma the patient is experiencing.
The treatment process involves close coordination between many specialties: resuscitation, surgery, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine and psychology.
The doctors, nurses and medical staff in the department always accompany, encourage, motivate and closely coordinate with the patient's relatives. Thanks to that, after a period of active treatment, the patient's condition has gradually stabilized both physically and mentally, and he has now been discharged from the hospital.
Doctor Phu warned that this was one of the lucky cases that was saved. Therefore, people, especially young people, need to be more vigilant with invitations to work abroad, especially from relationships they meet online.
A representative of People's Hospital 115 also added that the incident has been reported to the Police of Ward 9, former District 10, now Vuon Lai Ward (HCMC) for handling and resolution according to regulations.
