Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh chaired the meeting.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Ngoan said : Currently, in the province, there are 46 establishments producing sintered charcoal from coconut shells using traditional furnaces, with a total of 409 furnaces. Of which, Giong Trom district has 39 establishments, Binh Dai has 5 establishments (1 establishment has stopped operating), Chau Thanh has 2 establishments (1 newly established establishment in the form of transfer from the establishment established in 2023); Ben Tre city has 1 newly established establishment.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment has consulted on the development of a document summarizing the pollution treatment efficiency of the applied models and introducing effective models. Up to now, Giong Trom district has 13 facilities that have invested in improving the exhaust gas treatment system and are in the process of trial operation.

At the meeting, representatives of provincial departments, People's Committees of districts and cities reported to provincial leaders on the situation and results of environmental pollution treatment at coal sintering facilities, difficulties and problems, and proposed solutions for implementation in the coming time.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh acknowledged the proposals and recommendations of the localities and gave instructions for each specific case.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested relevant departments, branches and localities, according to their assigned functions and tasks, to continue to strictly implement the direction of the Provincial People's Committee on strengthening the handling of environmental pollution for sintered coal production facilities.

Districts and cities proactively and urgently coordinate with communes to urge coal sintering production facilities under their management to choose suitable flue gas treatment models for investment; by the end of September 2025, any facility that has not completed the construction of a flue gas treatment facility according to regulations will be suspended from operation.

Regarding the progress of the Solid Waste Incineration Power Plant project, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Ngoan said: Regarding the project to build technical infrastructure to serve the expansion of the Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant with an expanded land area of 3.24 hectares, after the project is completed, Ben Tre Waste Treatment Joint Stock Company will be supported to borrow land (1.6 hectares/3.24 hectares) to temporarily store the amount of waste currently in the plant, in order to have a site to organize construction.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment Vo Van Ngoan reported at the meeting.

However, due to the slow compensation and site clearance of this project, the progress of completing the entire project is slower than planned; the main reason is the difficulty in determining specific land prices to organize compensation according to regulations. The leaders of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment also reported specifically on issues related to the task of unloading and transporting the amount of waste remaining in the premises of the Solid Waste Incineration Power Plant to temporary storage at the expanded land area of 3.24 hectares; land issues... and proposed solutions.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Minh Canh proposed that the Project to relocate households and residential areas to ensure a safe environmental distance for the Solid Waste Incineration Power Plant project should be implemented according to plan and completed in June 2025.

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment is reviewing regulations to speed up compensation and site clearance for the project to build technical infrastructure to serve the expansion of the Ben Tre Waste Treatment Plant.
