On June 28, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee - said that the pre-feasibility study report for the urban railway (metro) project of Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien (HCMC) has been approved by the State Appraisal Council, reviewed by the Government and prepared to be submitted to the National Assembly .
Recently, on June 26, based on the opinions of Government members, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha issued a directive document, assigning the Minister of Construction to be authorized to sign on behalf of the Government the submission to the National Assembly for consideration and approval.
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee is assigned to preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Construction to receive comments and suggestions to complete the project's pre-feasibility study report.
To ensure resources for project implementation (total investment of about 46,725 billion VND), Binh Duong Provincial People's Council has just passed a resolution committing to proactively balance the provincial budget resources of 16,725 billion VND (accounting for 36%).
Mobilizing capital from TODs (urban development lands associated with public transport) is about 30,000 billion VND (64%).
For the provincial budget (or local budget after merger), about 3,000 billion VND/year will be allocated to implement the project, with priority given to site clearance and implementation of TOD capital attraction projects in the following years.
Total length of metro line is more than 29km, design speed 120km/h.
The metro line starts from station S1 (new city center, Hoa Phu ward, Thu Dau Mot city, in the future it will be Binh Duong ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
The final destination is Suoi Tien bus station (connected to metro line 1 Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, the station is in Binh Thang ward, Di An city, after the merger will be Dong Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City).
The project is classified as a national important project, the authority to decide on the project policy is the National Assembly.
Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee proposed many groups of policies and specific solutions to speed up the project's progress. The project is proposed to be implemented in the 2025 - 2031 period with public investment.
Besides the first metro line, metro line number 2 connecting Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh city is also being studied.
Binh Duong's metro line No. 2 is expected to be more than 21.8km long, from station S5 of Binh Duong metro line No. 1 in Phu My ward, to the end point connecting with Ho Chi Minh City's metro line No. 3 in Hiep Binh Phuoc ward, Thu Duc city.
Binh Duong inaugurates and launches many large projects before the merger
Before the merger, beltways, highways and metro lines connecting infrastructure between Binh Duong and Ho Chi Minh City are being accelerated, with the expectation of opening new doors for urban development and regional connectivity.
On the same day, June 28, a series of infrastructure, traffic, and urban development projects in Binh Duong were started or inaugurated, such as the completion of the expansion of DT 746 road (passing through VSIP 3 Industrial Park, where the Danish Lego Group's factory worth over 1 billion USD is located).
