The first master's class of surgery from UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy graduated

The University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (UMP-VNU) has just held a closing ceremony and awarded graduation certificates for the year 2024. For the first time, the school has had a master's student in surgery graduate.

This afternoon, August 2, in Hanoi , the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (UMP - VNU) held a closing ceremony and awarded diplomas for the year 2024. The special feature of this year's graduation ceremony of the UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy is that there are students majoring in nursing and master's degree in surgery, the first graduating class.

According to Professor Le Ngoc Thanh, Principal of UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy, after this ceremony, the school will add high-quality medical human resources to society with 376 new doctors, pharmacists and bachelors of 6 university majors, and 52 students of 4 master's majors.

Among them, there are 116 new medical doctors, 87 new pharmacists, 52 new dentists, 38 new laboratory bachelors, 34 new imaging bachelors, 49 new nursing bachelors; 11 masters of surgery, 20 masters of pediatrics, 17 masters of dentistry, and 4 masters of ophthalmology.

Of these, 49 new nursing bachelors and 11 surgical masters are students of the first course of the nursing bachelor's program, specializing in surgical master's program.

Professor Le Ngoc Thanh said that after 4 years of establishment, UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy (formerly Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy) has increased its enrollment scale for undergraduate and postgraduate students. Currently, the school has 3,000 students and more than 300 postgraduate students. The school has a system of classrooms, laboratories, and modern facilities at 2 main campuses: Xuan Thuy (Cau Giay, Hanoi) and Hoa Lac (about 30 km from the center of Hanoi).

In the past 3 years, from only 4 postgraduate training majors, the school now has 12 master's majors (the first program enrolling students from 2021), 13 residency medical majors and most recently, 2 specialist 1 training programs have started enrolling students.

To improve quality and enhance its position, UMP University of Medicine and Pharmacy is actively implementing international cooperation activities to create opportunities for students, trainees, especially young lecturers and resource lecturers to have opportunities for academic exchange, training cooperation, regional and international integration.

UMP is urgently implementing the project of University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, Linh Duong campus, University Medical Center at D2 Xuan Thuy to expand the practice facilities, scientific research, and serve the community.
