In his opening remarks, Mr. Ngo Vu Thang - Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee emphasized: "The past 58 years have affirmed the pride and deep belief in the development of the relationship of "good neighbors, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability" between Vietnam and Cambodia. The Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee informed: "Bac Lieu currently has more than 78,000 Khmer people, accounting for 7.6% of the population. They mainly work in agriculture, living around 22 Khmer Theravada Buddhist pagodas in localities in the province. In particular, the material and spiritual life of the Khmer people in the whole province has improved a lot, the security and order situation in the villages is stable.
Southern Khmer culture shows a strong vitality and widespread influence. From language, writing, traditional Tet to festivals, folk dances, pentatonic music and traditional costumes, these unique cultural values are not only preserved but also welcomed and loved by the majority of people in the ethnic communities in the province.
To achieve these positive results, it is impossible not to mention the important role of monks, dignitaries and prestigious people among the Khmer people. They are the ones who have been tirelessly dedicating themselves to preserving and promoting the cultural values imbued with the Khmer ethnic identity in Bac Lieu.
“The Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Consulate General of the Kingdom of Cambodia in Ho Chi Minh City and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will continue to create conditions for the province to promote the culture and image of Bac Lieu people to other Cambodian provinces in the coming time,” the Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee hoped.

In particular, the Cambodian Cultural Week in Vietnam 2025 is an important event and is organized under the “Cooperation Plan on Culture and Arts between the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam for the period 2023-2027”.
“This meaningful cultural event will create opportunities for Vietnamese people to broaden their vision of Cambodia and its people, contributing to bringing the people-to-people exchange and cooperation between the two countries to a new height,” the Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts hoped.
