Attending the ceremony were representatives of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, relevant departments and branches, representatives of basketball clubs inside and outside the province, and a large number of spectators and fans.
The tournament attracted nearly 200 athletes from 15 teams, including 13 clubs in the province and 2 guest clubs from Lai Chau province and Hanoi city. The teams competed in two age groups: U13 and U17, with the men's team category A and men's team category B. After 3 days of exciting competition from July 29 to 31, the B category of the tournament completed the group stage with fierce and dramatic matches and determined the 4 best teams to enter the semi-finals.
This is a practical activity to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025) and the 80th anniversary of the Cultural Sector's Traditional Day (August 28, 1945 - August 28, 2025) and major national holidays. This year's tournament is organized to create a healthy sports playground for young people, promoting the basketball practice movement in the province.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the representative of the Organizing Committee affirmed: The tournament is a practical activity to celebrate the major holidays of the country and the province, and at the same time contributes to promoting the sports training movement, developing basketball among young people. In particular, this year's tournament is also an important preparation step towards the 12th Dien Bien Provincial Sports Festival in 2026 - where basketball continues to be one of the official competitions.
The tournament is not only an opportunity for young athletes to gain experience, but also helps to discover and nurture potential talents for high-performance sports in the province. The tournament is organized seriously, in accordance with the regulations, ensuring safety and efficiency, leaving many good impressions in the hearts of the people and fans.
Right after the Opening Ceremony, the opening match took place between the A-class men's team Ssport Foxes Dien Bien 2 and ASA Timber Wolves. The match marked an exciting start, promising a quality, attractive season, contributing to creating a healthy and meaningful sports playground for youth basketball clubs in the area.
