In the first 6 months of 2025, the Company produced 924,000 tons of raw coal, reaching 56% of the annual plan, an increase of 12% compared to the Resolution of the Company's Party Committee and the Resolution of the 2025 Labor Conference. This result helped Mong Duong Coal rank among the units with high output of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group (TKV), showing the effectiveness of a period of drastic production organization.
"Many construction sites have to deal with weak foundations, thin coal seams, hard rock and soil, and clamping layers, causing great obstacles to the organization of excavation faces. In particular, the EBH-45 roadheader excavation area constructed at the Vu Mon L7-6 mechanized ventilation tunnel has changed geological conditions, fluctuating compared to design requirements, the multi-layer clamped tunnel face has a large hardness, so drilling and blasting must be used to break the face, affecting the progress of the tunnel construction. On the other hand, the transfer of the tunnel face takes longer than planned, creating no small pressure on production in the third and fourth quarters" - Mr. Than Van Tiep, Head of Production Control Department of Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin said.
But with a proactive spirit from the beginning of the year and strong leadership in management, Mong Duong Coal promptly built detailed production scenarios for each quarter and each month, closely following actual geological fluctuations, thereby providing flexible solutions, maintaining production pace and ensuring safety.
In order to overcome difficulties in tunnel excavation and maintain stable production, the Company has proactively changed the construction method in many tunnel lines from mechanization with EBH-45 machines to manual drilling and blasting, helping to adapt to constantly changing geological conditions. At the same time, the Company has strengthened coordination with outsourced contractors, expanded the number of simultaneous construction mirrors, and ensured the progress of key tunnel lines.
One of the highlights is the synchronous implementation of solutions for converting and stabilizing production at the CGH longwall. The company aims to complete the conversion before August 25, 2025 - an important milestone to "run the pace" for the third quarter's output, thereby making up for the missing output and creating momentum for a breakthrough in the fourth quarter. Along with that is a series of optimal solutions for transportation: Renovating the railway system in the furnace, upgrading electric trains, replacing scrapers with conveyor belts on routes with conditions allowing, reducing the number of intermediate equipment, and inter-connecting to increase productivity, reduce electricity consumption and limit coal loss.
The company is currently submitting a series of projects to TKV for approval: Project to invest in pumping station equipment and power station at -400 level; Project to invest in adding a backup diesel generator; Project to invest in building a laundry and drying house and auxiliary works; Project to invest in upgrading the control and safety equipment system of the auxiliary vertical shaft +5/-97.5; speeding up the construction progress of a new fan station - one of the important technical infrastructure projects to ensure ventilation for the deep mining area.
According to Mr. Ngo Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of the Company, in the third quarter, the Company will organize a maximum review of the protection pillars to have a plan to exploit and maximize the resources and minimize the number of transfers to increase productivity and output in 2025; focus on solutions to stabilize the main conveyor system of the transport routes at the same time and renovate the railway and tram systems to meet the Company's required capacity in the condition of the largest mining output in the five underground areas ever. In the tunnel excavation work, the unit will continue to monitor, propose radical solutions to overcome the existing problems and put the EBH-45 tunnel excavator into operation to increase maximum capacity.
Not only providing technical and technological solutions, Mong Duong Coal also strengthens the organization, management and stabilization of labor resources. The company implements shifts, arranges labor scientifically , prioritizes experienced forces in difficult production areas; at the same time, encourages units to propose initiatives, technical improvements associated with competition in productivity, quality and safety.
In particular, in the conditions of deep mining, the working environment is more harsh, the company focuses on improving the working conditions and living conditions of workers: Increasing nutritional rations and strictly implementing periodic health checks. The company continues to maintain the best vehicle conditions to serve the pick-up and drop-off of miners in the Eastern region of the province. These practical care policies help stabilize the mindset and retain workers.
To ensure the output of 1.5 million tons of coal, Mong Duong Coal must make much more effort than other units with favorable production conditions. That spirit is spreading in every workshop and every production team. With persistent efforts and unanimous determination, Mong Duong Coal Joint Stock Company - Vinacomin will maintain the output of 1.5 million tons of coal in 2025, focus on perfecting the mine development strategy, ensuring jobs and lives for workers, and actively contributing to the sustainable development goals of the Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Group.
