Customers can deposit and withdraw money from Vietcombank at FPT Shop.
On May 16, FPT Digital Retail Joint Stock Company (FPT Retail) officially cooperated with Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam ( Vietcombank ) to deploy a payment agent model at FPT Shop system nationwide. This is considered a remarkable step forward in the process of integrating financial services into the technology retail ecosystem, helping customers have easier access to banking utilities.
According to the agreement, from May 16, FPT Shop stores will act as payment agent service points for Vietcombank. Customers who come to shop at FPT Shop can now not only experience technology products, but also be supported to perform common financial transactions such as depositing and withdrawing cash directly from Vietcombank accounts.
Notably, this service is not limited to regular business hours. Instead, customers are allowed to transact during all FPT Shop operating hours – including evenings and weekends. This significantly expands access to financial services, especially for busy people or those living in areas with few bank branches.
This combination provides a flexible, modern financial solution, helping to optimize the user experience in the digital age. Instead of having to go to a bank branch and wait, customers just need to visit the nearest FPT Shop to make quick, convenient financial transactions.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. Hoang Trung Kien - General Director of FPT Retail said: Implementing the payment agent model with Vietcombank is one of FPT Retail's strategic steps in expanding financial and technological utilities. FPT Retail believes that this cooperation will bring practical benefits to millions of customers nationwide.
Mr. Kien also emphasized that FPT Shop is not only a place to shop for technology equipment but is also gradually becoming a multi-utility access point, meeting many consumer needs. Integrating financial services into the store will create conditions for customers to both shop and make financial transactions in the same space, saving time and effort.
From Vietcombank, Ms. Doan Hong Nhung - Director of Retail Division affirmed: This cooperation reflects Vietcombank's commitment to digitizing and personalizing banking services. "We are constantly looking for innovative solutions to meet the increasingly diverse and flexible needs of modern customers. FPT Retail, with its extensive network and strong technology platform, is the ideal partner to realize that goal," Ms. Doan Hong Nhung shared.
The bank representative said: Not only stopping at deposit and withdrawal utilities, the two sides said they are considering expanding cooperation to services such as bill payment, consumer finance support, e-wallet integration and providing after-sales financial services at the point of sale. These are factors that can form a comprehensive financial-technology ecosystem, helping Vietnamese users access modern banking services more easily than ever.
The payment agent model has been deployed in many countries around the world as part of a financial inclusion strategy, helping people, especially in remote areas, access banking services more quickly. In Vietnam, this model is gradually gaining attention and developing strongly, especially when the rate of smartphone and technology usage is increasing.
According to FPT Retail representative, with more than 800 FPT Shop stores covering 63 provinces and cities, this network will play an important role in bringing financial services closer to people. Not only big cities, but also rural or suburban areas can access banking services without having to travel far to branches.
Vietcombank's representative also expects that with its experience in the banking sector and strong technology platform, the cooperation with FPT Retail will help the bank shorten the gap with consumers, improve operational efficiency and at the same time promote the digital transformation process of the entire industry.
In the context of consumers increasingly favoring multi-functional, integrated services, the payment agent model at FPT Shop is not simply a financial utility, but also a strategy to expand the service ecosystem. FPT Retail hopes that this will be a boost to help their retail system create more added value for customers, thereby enhancing competitiveness in the consumer technology market.
In addition, Vietcombank also said it will closely coordinate with FPT Retail to ensure safety and security for transactions at payment agents, while standardizing processes to ensure customers can use the service easily, transparently and effectively.
Not stopping there, the leaders of both units also set a long-term goal of developing multi-platform financial service channels. In the near future, customers can pre-order transactions via the phone application and just need to go to FPT Shop to complete. This is a turning point in connecting online and offline channels (O2O), helping to enhance personalization in services.
