Overcoming landslides on Yen Son inter-commune road

Việt NamViệt Nam30/08/2024

Due to the impact of storm No. 2, heavy rain lasting from July 21 to July 24 caused the water level in Con stream and Lat stream (the section flowing through Luong Nha commune, Thanh Son district) to rise, causing landslides on the Yen Son - Luong Nha inter-commune road through Liem hamlet, Luong Nha commune. Thanh Son district People's Committee has directed the investor and construction unit to come up with a solution to ensure traffic safety for the people.

The construction unit used machinery to fix the landslide at pile culvert 22 on the inter-commune traffic route Yen Son - Luong Nha.

The Yen Son - Luong Nha inter-commune road is invested by the Thanh Son District Investment and Construction Project Management Board. The total length of the route is 3.6km. The starting point of the route is Km0+00 in Yen Son commune, the ending point is Km0+533.64 in Luong Nha commune. The road is paved with 20cm thick cement concrete, on a 15cm thick type II crushed stone layer. The total investment is 14.9 billion VND. Of which, the construction value is 12.7 billion VND. The project started construction on November 15, 2022 and was put into use on July 3, 2023.

Landslide at location TĐ48 - TC48.

Due to the heavy rain, water from the upstream brought trees and garbage, blocking the culvert 22, causing water to overflow the road surface (from Km2+074 to Km2+146, 72m long), washing away the entire embankment, eroding into the road surface from 0.2m to 1m. The strong water flow caused the downstream slope of the culvert, the embankment extending on both sides of the downstream wing wall to be structurally broken, and a part of the concrete was washed away. The road section from TĐ48 (Km2+650) to TC48 (Km2+730) is 80m long, the negative slope near Lat stream has collapsed, many cracks from the base of the slope to the part adjacent to the road surface, and there is a risk of losing the negative slope if there is heavy rain and the stream water rises.

Luong Nha Commune People's Committee has set up barriers and warned people not to drive cars through the road under repair.

At the time of the landslide, the project's warranty period had expired. After the landslide, the construction unit used machinery to clear the flow at pile culvert 22 and poured concrete roofing to ensure the safety of the project during the rainy season. The landslide from TĐ48 (Km2+650) to TC48 (Km2+730) was complicated. The Thanh Son District Investment and Construction Project Management Board has developed a repair plan and submitted it to the District People's Committee for approval as soon as possible, ensuring the safety of the project as well as the travel of the people.
