Monitoring data shows that the water level of the Red River and Tich River, although changing slowly, is still above alert level II. This puts the dike system at risk of being unsafe because it has not had to withstand large floods for many years.
To ensure the safety of the dike system, based on the 2006 Law on Dikes, the People's Committee of Phuc Tho district issued a Notice prohibiting vehicles with a load capacity of over 1 ton from going up the dikes of the Red River and Tich River (except for vehicles participating in natural disaster prevention and control).
The District People's Committee assigned the Police force to preside over and coordinate with the Traffic Inspection Team and the People's Committees of communes where the Red River and Tich River dykes pass through, to be responsible for organizing forces to guide and direct traffic flow of vehicles and people participating in traffic according to the route to avoid the above-mentioned dykes.
Speaking to reporters of the Economic and Urban Newspaper, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phuc Tho District, Le Van Thu, said that the People's Committee of the district has directed communes with dikes to develop plans and be proactive in all situations when the river water rises.
Localities are also required to deploy teams to be on duty 24/7 at dike guard posts and at commune People's Committee headquarters; be ready to mobilize forces, materials and means to participate in natural disaster prevention and control according to the "4 on-site" motto.
