There were many presentations at the conference such as: French cinema, Vietnamese cinema, perspectives from both sides; French cinema on the topic of Vietnam - the return to memories; Producing art films in the context of globalization: French experience and suggestions for Vietnamese cinema; The influences of French "New Wave" cinema; Varan film style (a film genre made in the style of direct cinema) and the influences from French documentary cinema to Vietnamese documentary cinema...

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor Dr. Ta Quang Dong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that French cinema is very familiar to Vietnam. Many French films have been shown in Vietnam and have won the hearts of audiences.

“Therefore, the workshop is an opportunity to learn more lessons and cooperate for mutual development. In the future, we hope that Vietnamese cinema will participate more in film festivals around the world , especially the Cannes Film Festival,” Associate Professor, Dr. Ta Quang Dong shared.

The workshop is an opportunity for experts to discuss the development of Vietnamese and French cinema.

Discussing the "French New Wave" trend and its influence on Vietnamese cinema, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Cam Giang (University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi ) said that for Vietnamese cinema, "New Wave" cinema has a stronger influence than the first generation of independent films.

This is a genre of films by directors who have been professionally trained in filmmaking (in Vietnam or Europe), and who have had the opportunity to break through to access new ideas, trends, and movements from Europe in their careers – beyond the influence of (former) Soviet cinema and Hollywood cinema.
