With a total of 33 branches and 1,000 members, the Provincial Family Planning Association's main task is to help members improve their understanding through propaganda, widely disseminate knowledge, and provide consultation services on population, reproductive health, and family planning. The Association's target audience is adolescents and young people, especially the poor in remote, isolated, and disadvantaged areas.
Every year, the Association coordinates with units in the province to organize campaigns on population and family planning in remote communes and areas with high birth rates to communicate and advise women in need of contraceptive methods; at the same time, conduct gynecological examinations to detect reproductive tract infections in women.
Mobile medical examinations for women in mountainous, border and ethnic minority areas always attract the attention of women. In the first 6 months of 2025, 1,000 women in communes attended communication sessions providing friendly mobile services; 6,000 condoms were distributed, helping many families implement effective family planning measures; 1,461 women were examined, detected and treated for gynecological diseases on-site for free, and 34 IUDs were inserted.
Ms. Tang Nhi Mui (Quang Tan commune) shared: “Attending the mobile communication sessions of the Family Planning Association has helped me learn how to take care of my reproductive health. The doctors and nurses give very enthusiastic and specific advice on safe contraceptive methods to avoid unwanted pregnancies, so I feel very secure.”
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau, President of the Provincial Family Planning Association, said: In order for communication sessions on reproductive health care, family planning, and gender equality to be highly effective, the Association organizes group discussions and distributes leaflets for people to exchange missing knowledge; provides guidance on the use of contraceptive methods, safe motherhood, health care, and nutrition for children; provides screening for reproductive health diseases, and provides free on-site treatment for women in communes.
The Association also coordinates with departments, branches, sectors, and social organizations to provide voluntary services. Activities to improve the quality of health care services for women at the Association's Family Planning Service Counseling Center for Reproductive Health Care are focused on. In the first 6 months of 2025, the Center received 3,000 customers for gynecological services, examination and treatment; 1,400 cases of sexually transmitted diseases came for treatment; organized 20 communication sessions attracting more than 300 participants. The Center is increasingly striving to improve the quality of reproductive support services, infertility consultation, and is currently a trusted address for many customers.
Dr. Nguyen Thi Hau added: In the coming time, the Association will continue to promote communication activities to further raise people's awareness of population and family planning, linking the dissemination of population policies with the socio-economic development of the province; promote the use of contraceptive methods on the basis of each family's voluntary use; strengthen communication, education and support families to improve awareness and skills in raising children. In addition, continue to enhance the reputation of service provision at the Family Planning Service Counseling Center for Reproductive Health Care by investing in equipment, expanding quality services, in order to reach more customers, increase revenue, and create favorable conditions for the Association's activities and medical staff working at the Center.
