On June 6, teachers and students of Vo Thi Thang Primary School visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Havana, Cuba, and learned about Vietnamese culture and history, as well as the special solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.
In a joyful and warm atmosphere, Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long introduced to Cuban teachers and students about Vietnamese culture and a space displaying paintings by Vietnamese children about the brotherly relationship between the two nations, on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
The students expressed their joy when visiting the working space of the Embassy staff and the reception room where the Ambassador received international delegations and Cuban friends, and admiring the replica of the Dong Son bronze drum...
Receiving teachers and students, Ambassador Le Quang Long summarized the life and revolutionary career of Heroine Vo Thi Thang, known for her “Victory Smile,” and expressed his joy at the teachers’ teaching achievements and the students’ learning achievements.
On this occasion, teachers and students learned more about Vietnamese culture and history through short films and participated in a knowledge contest related to the loyal and steadfast relationship between the Vietnamese and Cuban peoples.
Vo Thi Thang Primary School in Havana was established by Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the Cuban State Council in late 1968 after the photo “Smile of Victory” was published by the international press, with the aim of expressing the solidarity of the Party, State and people of Cuba with the cause of national liberation of the Vietnamese people, protesting against the unjust war in Vietnam.

In an interview with a reporter from the Vietnam News Agency in Havana, teacher Adriana Montero commented: “This extracurricular activity helps students gain more useful knowledge about Vietnamese culture and history, thereby contributing to fostering the special relationship between the two brotherly nations of Vietnam and Cuba.”
Student Pablo said: “I am very happy to visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba and look forward to learning more about the culture of the Vietnamese people.”
Meanwhile, Victoria shared: “I am really happy to be here to learn more about Vietnamese culture and food. Everything is wonderful.”./.
