The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it had received a document from the People's Committee of Hue City asking for opinions on the content of the plan to restore the national treasure "The Nguyen Dynasty's Throne". After studying it, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assessed that the plan had basically been seriously developed, with all the necessary content to implement the restoration according to current regulations.
However, in order to ensure the scientific and legal nature of the restoration of the national treasure "Nguyen Dynasty Throne", the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the People's Committee of Hue City to clearly define the final result of the restoration process as "returning the object to the state most similar to the time of preparing the dossier to propose recognition as a national treasure in 2015".
In addition, the Ministry also noted the principles of using techniques, technology and materials in the restoration process. Specifically, these factors should only be applied appropriately and appropriately, avoiding changing the original nature of the artifact.
In particular, the preparation of the current status record of the Throne needs to be carefully carried out, with comparison to the record of artifacts used in the process of recognizing national treasures in 2015. At the same time, related sources of documents (if any) need to be carefully reviewed and evaluated to be used as reference documents in the restoration process.

Regarding professional supervision, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism requested the Department of Culture and Sports of Hue City to advise the City People's Committee to clearly define the duties and powers of the professional council. In addition to the list of members, it is necessary to clarify the council's operating mechanism in each restoration stage to ensure transparency and efficiency.
Previously, at the end of May 2025, the Nguyen Dynasty throne, a national treasure on display at Thai Hoa Palace (Hue Imperial City), was severely damaged when the left armrest was broken. The incident caused great historical and cultural losses, forcing the Hue Monuments Conservation Center to remove the artifact from its display location to assess the extent of damage and make a restoration plan in accordance with professional regulations.
The restoration of the "Nguyen Dynasty Throne" has received great attention in recent times, because this is one of the typical national treasures, carrying special value in terms of history, culture and art of the Nguyen Dynasty.
