This summer, the Youth Union of communes and wards in the northern region of the province has proactively overcome difficulties and utilized all resources to maintain and improve the quality of summer activities for children.

In Duc Xuan ward, after the merger, more than 2,000 children returned to live in the locality.

Ms. Le Thanh Phuong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Secretary of the Ward Youth Union, said: Since the beginning of May, the Ward Youth Union has organized training for the Youth Union branch secretaries, and proactively built a model of "residential cluster activities" with "mobile teams organizing summer activities", taking turns organizing summer activities in each residential area. Each week, the summer activity program is deployed at a location, focusing on contents such as folk games, painting, teaching life skills, propaganda on drowning prevention, child abuse, etc.

Not only for fun, these activities also help children practice skills, improve their understanding of the law and connect with the community after the merger. Up to now, the Ward Youth Union has organized 34 summer activities.

Along with organizing entertainment, the Ward Youth Union also focuses on educating skills in accident prevention, traffic safety and disaster response skills.

In addition, the Youth Unions of communes and wards also proactively connected with "Green Summer" volunteer teams from universities and colleges such as: Youth Union of Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema; Youth Union of Ha Dong Medical College; Youth Union of Construction College No. 1 to organize the "Green Summer Volunteer Campaign 2025" in Cam Giang commune.

The students volunteered to support and organize many meaningful activities such as English classes, life skills, singing and dancing; health check-ups, eye exams for more than 600 people in the commune; helping families affected by floods harvest rice, building projects to light up rural roads; visiting and giving gifts to Vietnamese Heroic Mothers...

Nong Minh Ngoc, from Dong Tam village, Cam Giang commune, shared: This is the first time someone has come to the village to teach us how to draw and play games. I find this summer fun and very useful. I really hope that every summer there will be activities like this.

Summer playgrounds also help parents feel more secure during the time their children do not have to go to school. Ms. Chu Thi Cham, Tan Xuan village, Cam Giang commune said: After the merger, I was worried that my children would no longer have summer activities like before. But seeing that the Commune Youth Union still organizes them regularly, and there are also competitions, skill classes, etc., I feel very secure.

Overcoming difficulties in human resources, funding, and large areas after the merger, many communes and wards have maintained and upgraded typical summer activity models, such as: "Safe Beach", "Safe Summer - Happy and Healthy Children", "Folk Dance Playground"... In particular, activities with national cultural elements such as teaching bowl dance, Then singing, Tinh lute... have also been maintained, helping children understand and love their homeland's identity better.

The summer activities maintained after the merger are not only efforts in the union work, but also demonstrate the sense of responsibility and comprehensive concern of the government and social organizations for future generations.

Despite many difficulties in human resources and organizational conditions, with the spirit of initiative, flexibility and responsibility, the Youth Union of communes and wards in Northern Thai Nguyen is affirming the youthfulness, flexibility and perseverance of the Youth Union in the post-merger transformation period in preserving summers full of laughter for children...
