Flexibility in visa policies, promoting diverse promotions in key markets and close coordination between departments, ministries and sectors have created a strong push for the tourism industry in the first 6 months of the year. Industry leaders assessed this at the regular press conference for the second quarter of 2025 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recently held in Hanoi.

Positive Impressions

In the first 6 months of the year, the tourism industry has made a positive contribution to socio -economic development. The country welcomed more than 10.6 million international visitors, an increase of 20.7% over the same period last year; the number of domestic tourists also reached an impressive 77.5 million; total revenue reached about 518 trillion VND.

Assessing the overall performance of the first 6 months of the year, Deputy Chief of Office of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Mr. Nguyen Huu Ngoc, commented that the positive signals from the above figures have contributed to showing that tourism continues to be a bright spot in the development picture of the whole country.

In particular, in the first two quarters of the year, the Ministry has developed and implemented the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Program; participated in international tourism fairs; coordinated the organization of activities within the framework of the Hue National Tourism Year 2025; and a program to introduce Vietnamese tourism in European countries (Italy, Switzerland, France, Poland, Czech Republic and Germany).

The Ministry also actively promoted and introduced Vietnamese tourism through cinema at the Cannes Film Festival and sideline activities; promoted and promoted tourism at the 4th Summit of the Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G).

In addition, the Ministry has also coordinated with specialized units of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security to propose visa policies (expanding the list of short-term visa exemptions, proposing a list of priority subjects, and visa policy incentives in the management field)...

However, to maintain growth momentum and improve tourism quality, Vietnam's industry leaders believe it is necessary to continue investing in infrastructure, developing unique and sustainable tourism products, and especially improving the quality of human resources.

Besides, with the honors of Vietnamese dishes in recent times, building the Vietnamese culinary brand to the world is also considered an important direction, contributing to positioning Vietnam on the world tourism map.

“Start small with a big heart”

The Vietnamese tourism industry aims to welcome 22-23 million international visitors and over 120-130 million domestic visitors by the end of the year, contributing to the GDP growth target of over 8% in 2025 and double-digit growth in the coming period. Therefore, in the last months of the year, the entire industry will focus on implementing key tasks and solutions.

The focus is on implementing the 2025 Tourism Development Stimulus Program; encouraging businesses, organizations, and individuals providing travel services, tourist areas, tourist attractions, tourist accommodation establishments, and tourism service providers to cooperate and link up to offer many incentives on prices, new types of services, and products to enhance the experience for tourists.

Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Nguyen Trung Khanh said that in the coming time, the tourism industry will restructure the market, promote regional and inter-regional action plans, and focus on linking the tourism industry with other industries in the value chain to enhance competitiveness associated with green and sustainable development and the motto of "taking the tourist experience as the center."

With 10 key markets that Vietnamese tourism will target (Korea, China, Japan, the US, Australia, Europe, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Russia), Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung requested to approach with the viewpoint of "market is the center, brand is the foundation", on the basis of building a promotion strategy with scale, depth, connection and touching tourists' emotions.

“To do so, tourism professionals must start with small things with a big heart to create attractive products that are imbued with cultural identity and inspire tourists to come back many times,” the Minister emphasized.

In addition, continue to innovate in content and implementation methods, harmoniously combine state and social resources in promoting and positioning the national tourism brand.

In particular, at the industry-wide conference last week, Minister Nguyen Van Hung requested tourism and localities to choose the right content, fields, and key events; effectively mobilize resources to successfully organize a series of activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2.

Localities are requested to join the Ministry in organizing the exhibition “80 years of Independence-Freedom-Happiness journey”, promoting art activities, promoting tourism, spreading traditional cultural values, meeting the people’s increasing demand for cultural enjoyment. The Minister encourages localities to promote creativity, organize art nights, and community cultural spaces to create highlights for tourism during the holidays./.
