Through preferential loans, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong's family (Thuong Xuan commune) has invested in planting 10 hectares of acacia hom for economic efficiency.
More than 10 years ago, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong's family in Tien Son 2 village, Thuong Xuan commune was a poor household in the village. In 2014, her family borrowed 50 million VND from the policy credit capital for forest planting loans through the Thuong Xuan Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to plant 10 hectares of forest. Her family's acacia area has developed well, the cycle can be exploited after 5-6 years. Up to now, her family has exploited 1 crop of acacia, with the selling price at the hill of over 100 million VND/ha, earning a profit of over 700 million VND. In 2021, with the Social Policy Bank continuing to lend an additional 50 million VND to plant forests, her family went to the southern provinces to buy acacia seedlings to plant. This is an acacia variety that produces quite high quality wood and is resistant to pests and natural disasters. Currently, the family's 10 hectares of acacia seedlings are 4 years old and are growing and developing well, promising to bring high income to the family. Taking advantage of the forested hills, her family invested in raising 50 breeding buffaloes. Up to now, after 11 years of borrowing capital, her family has escaped poverty and become a fairly rich household in the village.
Mr. Tran Danh Luong, Head of Credit Planning Department, Thanh Hoa Provincial Social Policy Bank, said: Closely following the socio-economic development orientation of the province, including forestry development, in recent years, the Provincial Social Policy Bank has directed transaction offices to create conditions for people to access forest planting loans. In order for the capital to reach the right subjects, the unit has requested transaction offices to coordinate with localities to review, make a list, and guide loan subjects. As of June 30, 2025, the Provincial Social Policy Bank has provided 144 billion 324 million VND in forest planting loans, with 1,834 customers. In addition, in previous years, through the Forestry and Livestock Development Loan Program under Decree No. 75/2015/ND-CP on supporting ethnic minority households and poor Kinh households living stably in communes with difficult socio-economic conditions (regions II and III) in ethnic minority and mountainous areas according to the criteria prescribed by the Prime Minister, implemented in forest protection and development activities; loans from the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam for forestry development programs and projects, the provincial People's Credit Fund has created conditions for thousands of households to access capital for forestation. Currently, these two programs have ended, contributing to the greening of tens of thousands of hectares of production forests. In order for the loan capital to be effective, the provincial People's Credit Fund has directed the People's Credit Fund transaction office to coordinate with socio- political organizations and unions to train people to use capital effectively; Regularly inspect, monitor, urge debt collection, and collect interest due from borrowers. Through preferential credit capital, thousands of households in the province have invested in developing the forestry economy, rising to become rich from the forest.
